Re: Rear Torque rods
removing the bumper gives the best access. Obviously, this comes with its own issues, but I think you've already battled those!
Re: Rear Torque rods
Cheers, but was hoping to 'minimise' removal of parts, it was a real PITA to get the bumper back on with the tow-bar in place, mostly as i cut the VERY minimum from bumper during that operation . . . ..
I'd better wait until underside of car is dry before starting, not sure when that might be .. .. .

yep much destruction was the order of the day(s)Alan 480 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 5:00 pmonly issue now will be removing the old ones, I only ever got one of the four bolts freed when tidying up the bumper etc
I suspect much cutting /destruction will be in order, angle grinder for slicing open the bushes at wheels and the 'sabre saw' to chop through the rear bolts
got the O/S done quite swiftly only had to 'tear' the bush off the inner steel tube at axle end and then the thinner tube was removed with 14" stiltson to crush/move/crush until the vice grips were sufficient to remove.
N/S started off so well as the nut turned, well it really had no choice with 14" breaker-bar and 'hex socket', except it was the bolt shearing
anyway chopped the exposed head off with thin disc on grinder and then drilled into the stub in three steps so that 'preserved' any 'spline'. the brake shield was sacrificed for access, I'll make a new one later as i have the pattern from previous car, so might as weel make a pair?
The rear bolt was chopped through on both sides of the bush, the inner side was easier, outer side was more difficult to get the 'Sabre-saw' into, but all good, then bent the holder back to shape....
now can the 'stud' for the axle be 'obtained' ? and what sort of price?
or will a high tensile 10mm (12. allen be suitable? it is a plain section 40mm with last bit threaded.
