Complete known manufacturer wheel list?
'Evening all
I was recently about to respond to brinkie about wheel types, when I got thinking, there is a type of wheel that I really like, but simply cannot find a picture of. it is similar to the one used on the crash test cars, and was on a car I saw on Gumtree a while back
The wheels I like are the Pollux, Taurus, this mystery wheel and the Pictor/Canis, I sort of like the Vesa
I very much dislike the Celeb wheels, too curvy for such a wedgy car, and whatever the one are on the early 90s base model, as can be seen here: https://i0.wp.com/www.motoringresearch. ... C687&ssl=1
but these mystery wheels are very elusive: They are rare in the UK, i think they were only for '87-'88, as the car I saw them on was an E-Reg, they seem to be a rounded square, surrounded by a circle that makes up the rim, I do not think they are hubcaps, they seem more like alloys.
Can anyone help with my query? I do not wish to cause offence, I have no issue with the mounting of wheels that I dislike, but I would like to know why, for instance, Celeb wheels are a popular styling choice for earlier cars.
I do also know that there is an accessories section on the main site, but my login that works on here, does not work on there, so I am unable to reach it.
Many thanks
Ben

Can you view this link to the wheels page without logging in?
http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/volvo480/wheels.php
By the way, the main site has a completely different log in system than this forum. You have to register again for that.

Re: Complete known manufacturer wheel list?
There are 300 series wheels which I have seen on 480's. The prototypes had 360GLT "Leo" wheels sometimes:
Crash test look similar to Castor (300 series wheels):
Castor:
But are actually these, which I don't know the name of:
For sale here on eBay:

It was very similar to that, but with the holes for the mounting nuts having a strange bracket type feature around themjamescarruthers wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:31 pmThere are 300 series wheels which I have seen on 480's. The prototypes had 360GLT wheels sometimes:

Don’t try and register, it’s totally independent from the forum and we’ve zero access to it!MisterH wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:32 pmAH, the link does not work, I may register with the main site then, Had a hunch that there was a reason it didn't workjamescarruthers wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:24 pmCan you view this link to the wheels page without logging in?

Re: Complete known manufacturer wheel list?
I think that was it, the picture was dark, but it seemed to be that dark, gunmetal type colour, was it a 300 series wheel? I don't think it will go with the Arctic blue met of my car, but that type, and the castor, I can add to my personal list of liked wheels
Thank you so much all for the info, I think I have found it, I can picture it on a dark coloured pre-facelift model, looks very nice in my mind. The one for sale was up for 250 quid - but then one was required to build the front end...
P.S. I presume it is an alloy? The finish looks too good for a hubcap

Re: Complete known manufacturer wheel list?
I had a good Google as I'm sure many have! Although I found a good list on the Volvo Owners site, there was nothing similar and mostly more modern but I did manage to find a still image of said wheels (rather than one in motion) if this helps.
