upgrading a celibration to turbo brakes?
Im noticing that trurbo vented disks and pads seem a lot more common, cheap and easy to sorce on ebay etc than the solid disks on the 2.0 models, are there any threads or members who have swapped solid for vented disks, I think you need new calipers too? How hard a job is this?

As far as I know, you need the calipers and the carriers that bolt them to the hub/strut.
Should be as simple as swapping like for like, as all the struts etc are the same

My god, I got something 480 related right?
I think the signature under my avatar needs changing up a level!
Oh, what's a trurbo? No idea, but I feel I need one in my life!

Unipart have the solid discs and pad available. I ordered thema few months ago then cancelled but I'm sure they went to the shop

Re: upgrading a celibration to turbo brakes?
In my opinion it makes little sense to swap standard into vent. set from turbo. 480 is not a monster. Old school, good quality ATEs are more than enough, and are definitely much better that Chinese vent. discs from eBay.
Re: upgrading a celibration to turbo brakes?
I agree really, I wouldnt replace, but Im still on 3 of the cars original disks and callipers and I like to stockpile consumables- and the upgrade seems might work out a little cheaper, there are still a lot of branded disks avalible, do you think they are mostly of dubios heratage? Thanks
Re: upgrading a celibration to turbo brakes?
I,ve recently paid ca 70eur for rear ate discs and pads and I don' t know if its a lot or not but if you have access to a replacement set from turbo than in the end why not. I would just recommend to stay away from low-end products and discount brands especially when it goes about safety.
Re: upgrading a celibration to turbo brakes?
I've done the vented upgrade. got the calipers and carriers of a scrapper turbo. The carriers are the hard bit to source.
The parts book doesn't list part numbers for them or even acknowledges there are two types. lol
The Pads for the vented calipers are a lot cheaper than the one's for the solid. cost me £9 for vented pads. would have cost £36 for solid one's
I also brought Lucas disc's for £20 online. Shop wanted £40 a disc for Apex, even more for Brembo and didn't list Lucas.
Easy job to do, just getting all the components together for the conversion. Haven't changed my rears as they're still like new

There are always ample warnings and there are always subtle signs,
And you would have seen them coming but we gave you too much time.

Re: upgrading a celibration to turbo brakes?
Thanks Slash, I haddnt fully priced it but I certanly agree, its seems cheaper to upgrade- better put an add on the market place for a caliper carrier!
