I have one of these and I got my garage to try and fit it for me, but they said it came out from to dash a long way which wasn't too good. Also as it didn't cancel out the indicators (not much of an issue I guess) and cause you'd need to add a different horn button they put the old one back in.
Also, if/when the mot changes, what would happen if it had one of these steering wheels on and no air bag like it should have?? I guess you'd run into problems wouldn't you? because of all this I didn't pursue the issue, although I would still really like it fitted!

Re: momo steering wheel
I had a momo fitted, and although yes it was a bit closer that a normal steering wheel i liked it for that reason, it was about an inch closer if that.
And depending on the Boss, mine had the tooth that allowed it to cancel the indicators as normal.

Re: momo steering wheel
I heard that they don't fit cars with airbags properly, as the top of the steering column is slightly different.
I was looking for one, but decided against it at the time because of this.
I'm now toying with replacing the top section of the steering column with a pre airbag item though, and take the bulb out of the light on the dash
Not too sure if this would fail an MOT, if it doesn't have an airbag, surely it can't be a fail?
Also, I'm sure VOSA records aren't comprehensive enough to show whether something as old as a 480 should have one.

"If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical fault!"
Hammers can't fix a 480!!!
