Hi all
I have had a oil leak for a while (not sure how long) I've investigated and thought it was the sump pan seal but!
I took it to the garage to today after their investigations they said it was the 'lower main seal' which was a engine out job and they thought my clutch was high and apparently making a noise, none off which I've noticed?
They've estimated £600/700 but going to give me a more accurate price tomorrow.
What do people think? To me the cars driving good I just didn't like the oil leak but I want to keep the car maintained but hadn't anticipated this!
Lower main seal leak?

Second opinion, somewhere else.
If you can, remove the tray (if fitted) and give the underside a damn good cleaning/degreasing. It’ll make troubleshooting much easier.

I have removed the under tray and given it the best clean I could and thought I'd identified it to be coming from the sump pan seal but they are saying its from higher up...

if just a 'wee drip' now and again, and/or just 'damp' is it worth it?nigel poustie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 7:02 pmHi all

you can buy a load of oil for £600
Mini's had a total loss oiling system which kept some rust at bay
