Rear left footwell wet
Floor is soaked.... What are the likely causes?

Now I think about it I did go through some shallow flood water a few days ago, so is it probably a leak somewhere? Hopefully not a rust hole

Re: Rear left footwell wet
I have this issue, using electrical tape to seal gaps, namely the windscreen surrounds, and apparently it is also a trap with the quarter lights leaking water in, so be sure to get those sealed when you have the door cards out. I'll get some pictures of the sealing I have done, it has worked better than I thought it would, but it doesn't hold everything out, that can't be stopped altogether with these cars

Re: Rear left footwell wet
It's only in the rear left footwell though, all the others are dry

Re: Rear left footwell wet
Normally it’s light seals. Lift your boot carpet and check for dampness

You sad b's - it's Christmas Day and you're waffling on about your cars letting in water- get a life!
Re: Rear left footwell wet
It'll be the back end of the car - these cars are famous for leaks.
Seals around rear lights and water getting in around boot hatch and wiring. Ig gets in boot and runs forward under carpet and seats to foot wells.

Re: Rear left footwell wet
In addition to the above valid comments...
Check your rear seatbelt mountings in the wheel house... top right in this picture...
Mine needed rebuilding left and right as they had more holes than metal... and that's a late '94 car!

Re: Rear left footwell wet
Someone here wrote the very good advice to check where the leaks are by sitting in the boot and having a friend hosing the suspicious parts of the car from the outside.
Personally, as I do not have easy access to Man With A Hose (urban environment etc. etc.), as an alternative I did a roll wash sitting in the back. That showed me that litres of water were gushing in through the rear light “seals” (and ending up mainly 1. in the boot soundproofing 2. in the right footwell). I have now re-sealed with Joep Vrijling’s famous remanufactured seals (find him on Facebook, he is as nice as everyone in this wonderful community), not tested them yet, but I think it should be much better now.
Good luck! I hope it’s just the seals.

Just got my first 480 (August 2020)!
1990 ES 1.7, Superwhite
I have ticked off around 45 items, cosmetic and mechanical
Remaining:
- Vibration at 1500 RPM (hard to locate)
- Rough idle (harder one)
- Touch-ups
- Change rims (Pollux to slightly fresher Atlas)
- install my “new” flawless door pocket
I also just bought a 2004 XC90.
