Re: Turbos, the very first ones (where are they? - part 2)
Incidentally, all this subject brings to my mind another question.
Assuming that SK-94-JG and SH-55-ZL are older cars than, say, SR-66-YZ, TR-79-ZK and even HIT 124, and these latter are real US cars, then the change from the "old" dash to the "new" dash was dictated by US plans???
In a certain way, that would mean all european turbos sold to people have "US dashboards" !?

I must admit I had an unpleasant feeling this week, didn't know the cause though (editor: it's amnesia)
Anyway to make it up. These lovely two pictures (I think the G on the plate is wrong)

GK-88-JG is from early eighties, and the 480 was introduced in '86. First 480's had P-series #.
after over 10 years parted with the 1995 Volvo 480 ES 2.0

Which country/ language catalogue is it?
The 1988 brochures I have, show the 1x1000 rpm counter.
I cannot believe such detail was that important for the potential 480 owner

EB, it's the 1988 volvo 480 tourist and diplomat sales catalogue.Ettore Bugatti wrote:Which country/ language catalogue is it?

Take a look here: http://www.volvo-480.org/catalogues/1988tds/slide.html
Maybe it was not that important back then, but now...

Must be a different version to yours. The link shows 10x100 rpm.

Like I said on the french forum, in my mind, it's a "photomontage"...480's partner wrote:EB, it's the 1988 volvo 480 tourist and diplomat sales catalogue.Ettore Bugatti wrote:Which country/ language catalogue is it?

Re: Turbos, the very first ones (where are they? - part 2)
Thanks for the observation, AOD!
So, the same car (?) was used in two different dashboard configurations (for the catalogue pictures):
One for the ES (without the extra dials) and another for the Turbo (with the dials).
Maybe the second configuration never came to be produced* and sold, but nevertheless the picture came from volvo and perhaps that was how the turbo dash was supposed to look in the beginning. (my point)
* Except for the Autovise and AutoKampioen test cars
