Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Today on my Volvo's clock 160.000km appeared! I know it's not real mileage because of speedo failures but number of 160.000 km look almost nice like 150.000 km

It's the same car, but the owner was changed. [ I'm third after Milosz

My 91' Turbo Auto has 145,000 Miles (so 233,000KM).
Runs & used daily, but is prone to giving me grief on a regular basis

Your average fuel consumption is that for real?

I reckon it maybe. My 480 T Auto is suffering badly from low consumption. Currently doing 23.7 MILES to the Gallon which I reckon is something around 8LT/100KM. I would expect about 30MILES to the gallon, which I guess is around 11-12Ltrs/100Km?
Maths is not a strong point, before anyone picks me up

So yours is doing 8.4l/100km, that is terrible. Is the engine mechanical sound? Air filter and spark plugs recently updated? Are you stabbing the pedal at all times maybe?
30mpg is 10.6l/100km seems more realistic given that the auto and turbo increase your fuel consumption.

Yes to the plugs & filter. This is something I'm chasing & have been for a long time.
See this thread:

I only get about one day a week to try to 'fix' as SWMBO is out at work in it for the other 6!

23.7 MPG is 11.9 litre/100km
8.4 litre/100km is 34 MPG which is actually pretty good I would say (I get about this in mine).
The 12.8 litre/100km from the picture is 22 MPG!! Must be thrashing that bad boy!
This is a useful site for changing litre/100km to MPG:
http://mpg.webix.co.uk/
Got to remember, higher MPG is
good, higher litres/km is
bad.

Thanks for that surrealjam, useful link for me & my (lack of)

Yes. It's sad but true. Air filter and spark plugs are OK. Im don't stabbing the pedal at all times

My car doesn't have catalysator and lambda.
I'm driving fluently and I am trying not to exceed over 4000 revs. Car is dynamic, runs good, but the AVG value makes me sick.

Just out of interest, have you manually calculated your fuel consumption to check the computer is accurate?
I think whenever I've checked mine it's been pretty reliable. Amazing for an 18 year old piece of kit

I didn't calculated manually fuel consumption, because i never fill a fuel tank to a maximum

My average fuel consumption is 30mpg-I do 80 mile a day on motorways (gets the old MPG right up-had it as high as 37mpg before!!) but then fighting my way thro Brummie traffic at the end of the drive knocks it back down again, with 27mpg having been acheived last weekend
![Shooting :kill:](./images/smilies/shooting.gif)
Stupid Brummie traffic!!!
Tho on one particularly great day i did all 80 miles on £25 worth of fuel! Average 12.5 mpg! Needless to say I have recently replaced the nackered hose clip on the offending vacuum hose which fell off!!!

Surreal you are right, I should have written 8.4km/l and 10.6km/l not 100km, typo.

I always find it strange in the UK that we are halfway between imperial and metric.
I know 20 MPG is crap and 50 MPG is very good. But to understand how much a gallon is I have to think "that's about 4.5 litres" !!
I know I should be able to do at least 200 miles on 30 litres !!
I would measure the dimensions of a room in metres, but I'm 6'1" tall !!
The car weighs about 1000Kg but when I get in it, I add a little over 11 stone !!
Ahh, we're strange us Brits...

That is dire. My mission today is to check Coolant temp sensor on mine.
My 480T Auto has shown 44mpg on one occasion. That was a drive from Chebourg to Herbignac (Loire-Atlantique region). The reason we got that MPG? Well Wifey was driving, following me with my 240 Est with a hurking great caravan hitched up. Needless to say average speed was around the 40 mark hence the incredible mpg
