C30 parcel "shelf"
Went to the Volvo stealers for some bits the other day and chanced upon some C30s in the showroom. Very nice I thought, until I examined the boot to find that the C30 has a very similar parcel shelf arrangement to the 480!
20 years of progress and they still have to use a flimsy piece of vinyl to cover the boot space.
I cancelled my deposit there and then...

Re: C30 parcel "shelf"
Really? Did you have a deposit down for one and cancel it because of the parcel shelf, or are you being hugely sarcastic and I'm missing it due to tiredededness? Just think that would be a bit over the top, unless you didn't notice the parcel shelf before?macaroni wrote:Went to the Volvo stealers for some bits the other day and chanced upon some C30s in the showroom. A hard shelf is an optional extra on the C30. I haven't seen one yet so am interesting to see what it looks like in the flesh. It will be interesting to see how it does against the A3/ BMW 1 series. Some of the journos believe that it will hold its value pretty well, will be interesting to find out how much they are going for when they hit the second hand market in 2-3 years time.
Think I will be rattling around (literally) in my 480 for a while yet.
Mind you I have been abroad for 15 months and in that time my father made a few modifications to the rear right panel which caused my insurance company to make a larger modification to my insurance premium to repair the other damaged vehicles. Sadly I don't think it will be worth fixing the 480, it is far from a mint example.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the C30. Why? Why in the world did they spoil a nice and otherwise nice put together car with such a horrible awkward solution?macaroni wrote:Went to the Volvo stealers for some bits the other day and chanced upon some C30s in the showroom. Ok the nose is not my taste but the back is great. So much nicer as the common boring German lids.
after over 10 years parted with the 1995 Volvo 480 ES 2.0
