Unfortunately, the date for tax exemption has never moved forward, it was set for cars 25(?) years old some years ago, but does not move forward with each year.
Our cars will never be tax exempt :cryhard:

Think its old M plates and older that are tax exempt, mate of mine bought an N plate mini, was told "its six months off being tax exempt" Well, it was, but it always would be!

Well picked her up and she was running great until suddenly lost all power and couldn't accelerate. Turned engine off and restarted, all was fine again. Next time I slowed down lost all power, restarted and since then no turbo boost, I think perhaps the wastegate is stuck, any other suggestions?

Have you let Edd do your knock sensor up?

we had shite running on our 740 due to that, and before that, due to blocked injector, took it out and blew on it! and it went ok again.

Thats what you get for a 19 year old car.

found the Turbo fault, the actuator had fallen off the wastegate arm, probably what caused the sudden richening too.

not at the moment sadly, though I am slowly sorting it.
When she goes she goes well though. Does anyone have a diagnostics plug in for a B230ET engine? (mine is C-reg so doesn't have the on board diagnostic reader)

congrats.! :D enjoy the guzzling world of real heavy volvo's ;) the swedish originals...

I wished the dutch didn't tax on weight of cars,... and it didn't drink so much of "osama's fluid"......

donot compare it with a 480.... as there is no comparison possible... this in both positive and negative. Its more powerfull, but will be hard to bring the same specs as a 480 turbo, with almost the torq and hp, but half the weight....

wish you a pleasant hobby and lots of fun with it.....

I wish i could drive a car like that....
.
luck,
JPF

Cheers for the kind words vfox, I agree it is completely differant to the 480. One thing I couldn't believe was the handling though, it is so manouverable through corners!

Going back to Chrisrolls comment about Tax exempt it was before January 1973.

My Beetle is J so is okay but we have a Landrover which was registered in March 73 is an L so just missed out and that has to be paid. :cryhard:

we bought it new and is a sort of family heirloom We keep it mainly to get us out of here if we have any snow as our lane is steep and turns at the same time.480's dont like it.

70mph around bends in the lanes without a problem. The 480 would be at the max.

in the dry, i'm guessing? wet roads in a RWD can be "fun" experience if your not trying to make it go sideways![/quote]
