Merry Christmas too all Volvo 480 Club Europe members all over the world, Europe and the UK.

I doubt anyone is having the year or the christmas that they were expecting but lets hope all are able to make the best of it.

In the UK, those members who have just gone in to the new tier 4, I wish you a double MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Merry Christmas James!

I hope next year my wedge will be able to meet its brothers and sisters from the club at some point, it is currently in the paint shop and will hopefully emerge like a butterfly from its cocoon. Meanwhile the idiosyncratic Rover is full of twin can delights, now a 480 with a twin cam, that's an idea...

I sincerely hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas, or at least, as wonderful as we can make it :)

Cheers to a great community, and the strange wedge shaped, sometimes unreliable and completely characterful automobile that unites us :hopping:

Ah didn't realise the Williams engine was a twin cam, not very brushed up on my Renault lore

Hope everyone has an acceptable christmas after all of this!

I plan on taking the 480 around Lincoln, and anywhere else I can think of, on Christmas day to try and get some pictures of him near the cathedral etc. Will post if I do. As long as it's not massively heavy rain that is!

The good news last night that we should get a refund on our now useless christmas flights to Berlin but then, of course, bad news; the oven blew up today.

The lord giveth and the lord taketh away!

Rotten luck having to trade Christmas in Berlin for an oven !

Have to say though, your new Christmas plan sounds great - looking forward to seeing the resulting pics.

Hope you're all having a nice day.

I've already excelled myself and had my baked potato!

Managed to get out earlier. Drove about 50 miles all together. Went to the Kinema in The Woods to try and get some there too but it's all fenced off while it's closed :(

Almost impossible to get anything level in these pics what with the wonky roads and buildings but you get the idea!

Those are some great photos, have a professional look to them! I can't help but wonder what your reg plate was originally on in 1964/5 (B reg suffix). I like how it seems to have dealer details underneath, I have some new plates on order :hopping:

Fantastic pictures... the hat is a nice touch :D

The original plate on the 480 was G369 WPD, the car was registered in May 1990. which will go back on if sold. I am in the waiting process for 2 others to be put into DVLA auctions but so far it's been nearly 2 years so unlikely they'll get around to it despite an occasional nudge and an "Oh, yes. That'll will go into auction for you in upto 6 months." Never does!

As for the FOX plate, this one is technically for my son (his name is Fox B) although I don't know if he's particularly interested in me holding onto it for him! I bought this privately via Plates4Less for £375.

It was, itself sold in a DVLA auction in 2011 so, that should make it a previously unused plate as it was sold via DVLA. I don't think they let you have plates that have previously been issued on, say, a now scrapped vehicle. For instance, I think C30 FOX was on a Sierra but I wouldn't be able to ask them to put that into auction as it's been used before. The only way you'd get that is if the car still existed and the owner put a new plate on their car, retained the C30 one and then transferred the certificate to you!

I never bothered getting age correct plates (fonts and original dealers tag under) so these are quite new ones from Stoneacre Volvo in Grimsby. I do keep looking at getting repro ones but just never get around to it. The ones it came with were repro ones. I still have them....for the day he goes to a new home.
