Cant believe this one!!!!!!

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

Cant believe this one!!!!!!

Post by glasgowjim » Tue Mar 31, 2009 7:27 pm

Found on ebay tonight , this guy must be on something

"Hi im selling my volvo due to a purchase of a new car

ive owned the car for about a year and that has never let me down. the car has mot until the 3rd April so due to run out and the tax finished today.

the interior is in brilliant condition no rips on drivers seat which is comman on most cars.

that has had 4 new tyres about 2 months ago so plenty of tread.

i also have a rear bumper 2 doors and 2 rear arches for the car i was going to put them on but just havent had the time. these will come with the car if the buyer requests.

as far as im aware engine if fine and starts first time.

bad points:
the sunroof does go tilt up but for some reason dosent go back down.
as stated before the doors and rear arches are rusty.
had brake cable need tightening
and the exhaust is blowing and landa sensor isnt working.

the fuel guage also dosent work but this is a new problem and i havent looked into why that could be something simple (a fuse?) as the speedo and rev counter all work fine. as far as i'm aware thats it.
im asking for the buy it now price because i know if i strip the car a can get around 700 for the parts but as i am a lover of these cars and it has never let me down id like to think someone will buy it and give her the tlc she deserves."

Needs a big dose of reality eiher that or he thinks people are stoopid and he is greedy.
It doesnt read as if he has had the car for a year ;)

PS the bin is £600

You'd just about get 700 for a late turbo in parts.

100 - Taurus
60 - Vented brakes
250 - Engine/box
80 - seats
35 - infocentre
25 - clear clusters

Thats £550..

80 - lights (dependant on condition!)
60 - electric windows.
10 - door pockets

- We're there.

john

you still have to sell all the parts.

the car is riddled with faults for £600 you can get a lot better than that.

I reckon realistically about £250 to £350 in parts with the rest to scrap nowhere near £700.

heck for the cost of an engine and bearbox you could get a whole car :D

I made a grand breaking my 480.... mind you it did have leather, unfaded clusters, and a palm beach, which helped.

And I still have the engine and box, big breaks and a few other parts....

Well...what other 480t could you buy on ebay today?

Minor niggles. Maybe i'd not ask 600, but i would ask 500. You forget that the turbos are rare now.

No that car is worth a lot less than £600 , there are other very good cars out there you just have to be patient and keep watching. Turbos are not that rare.

i got a vgc damn near mint celebration for £600 only one fault needed a replacement VEM unit which I had in my store of spares and I upgraded a rear cluster.

A lot rarer than they have been.

My definatition of rare...look on autotrader, and ebay. If either doesn't have one then its rare. lol.

This week...its common - 1 on each.

Next week?

I still think a late turbo in good nic will fetch more than a celeb anyway.
