Whats next?

Some things just can't be placed elsewhere. Have you been speeding and got fined? Or spotted a nice new Volvo on the web somewhere? All non-480 messages can be posted in this part of the board.

Whats next?

Post by Murf » Fri Feb 15, 2008 7:48 pm

So, i'm pretty much working my way through a list of stupid/impractical but fast/fun cars. Basically its to get them out of my system before i have to finally grow up and get something sensible!

So, what else should be on my list, suggestions involving 80's styling, turbochargers and pop up lights will be lifted to the top of the list!!

So far ive had:

Celica GT4
MR2 Mk2 turbo
MR2 mk1 x2
MR2 mk1 turbo
MX5
5 or 6 480's, Turbo's 2 litre and N/A
Mk2 escort

What should be next?
Kia Pro'ceed GT 1.6 Turbo
1992 480 Turbo
2007 Focus ST

Um...Murf, what the...???

You should be saying "What else can i get through before i kill myself in one of my fun cars" NOT " Before i have to grow up"!

Thats my philosophy in life!

When i'm 90 i want to be cruising around in an XJS Lister Le Mans not plodding around in a Fiesta...

Anyways, I notice you have had a lot of Japanese cars...

Ever thought of a Nissan 300zx? My friends was a twin turbo and stuck to the road like glue, it was great fun!

Or if perhaps you are after another random style that sticks out like a 480, a Toyota Sera? Gullwing doors, and usually only a grand or two, and they are rare and eye catching!

Another idea, a CRX Del Sol? The style that was out the same time as the honda Civic (U no, the one the 480 supposedly copies!!! ) but with the del Sol body kit and the VT-summit engine

Or if you have a big wallet...LOTUS ESPRIT V8...80s, pop ups!!! GET THE ESPRIT!!!!!

Good luck!! EJ ;)

OR even better Both, How about a Volvo V70R?

I think a V70 R he would have fun in, but it lacks that 'crazed' essence that i think his adrenaline relies on (look for vids somewhere of him driving through some mountain in Scotland in that MR2T of his...)

You not fancy a Supra of somesort....cool car, pop-up lights. Were the 3.0 single or twin turbos?

http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Pictures-c ... Supra.html

I think the early (as in Evo 2 or 3) Lancer GSR should be pretty fun-and something i could actually see you in. Lancers... Old Evo's are cool. Made to drive hard-function over form, not like the softy bollocks they make today (although they are still nice).

Skyline R33? Or (good luck) an old NSX Type R before they ditched the pop-ups
Long URL NSX. But they do look better in white i think...

My how the rich live Paul....;)

the mkIII 3.0 supra was was either a n/a or single turbo
the turbo charged 7mgte is still a very strong motor i would say get a mkII with the 2.8 wide body but the trouble im having gettings bits its almost not worth it as a FUN car,
also how about a gen 1 rx7 or even an r32 gtst

I thought Murf asked for advice about cars not pieces of metal that he'll try to work together every weekend :)

Honstly Fiat Coupe is nice looking but tottaly crap car. Especially turbo'd engines. To be sure you'll have to change cambelts every 30kkm

Some cracking suggestions!!
I prefer small fast cars, i'm not so keen on cars that are large but still impractical, like the supra etc.

Esta, ive thought about CRX's but i dont really like Honda's engine characteristics, ie no torque and you have to rev the nuts off it. Hence why i like turbo cars so much.
Sera, considered them but they drive slow and boring!
Esprit, i wish!!

3 door cosworth, i'd love one but they cost a fortune now and insurance is stupid!!

Audi, never thought about them, i'll go check out google!

Pepper, great idea! V70R is on the list!

Dan, old evo is a good shout and a fine practical saloon too! Think the evo 4 is regarded as the best. On the list!

Skyline, never fancied them!

NSX, i wish!! Oh, and its a Honda. (although you can supercharge them!)

RX7, too thirsty and rebuild costs are stupid!

323 turbo, awesome!! I nearly bought one a couple of months ago, i cant say enough good things about them! They rust though!
How about a good old french Pug 306 GTi-6

Fiat coupe, no chance! Needs engine removal for timing belt change and breaks just for fun!

Good suggestions Lee, 900 turbo, deffo! Has to be the turbo cabrio though, on the list!
Renault Fuego, grudgingly added to the list, between that and the phase 1 Renault 11 turbo the 2 French cars i'd like to own.
Citroen + turbo + activa = can't work for long

Get some JDM Murf
 A man after my own heart!!

Keep the ideas flowing!

Murf-am very chuffed to see one of my suggestions on the list!! :D

I didnt realise the Honda engine was so naff-no wonder i can beat the damn things at traffic lights , thought it was just the drivers !!

As for the Sera, i know very little about the engine, it was more an aesthetic thing, i think i was kinda assuming it would have something nippy powering it, but i guess the gullwing doors are all its got going for it

And as for the Esprit-you have VERY good taste!! Good luck with that one! Nice to see it on the potential hit list ;)

Well I was looking for one a few moments ago. They are quite cheap in Poland just because they breakdown quite often. Extremely powerful car. With turbocharcher it's got nearly 200bhp but money you'll have to pay on service can be higher than cost of the car.
I was reading a few Fiat Coupe forums and all users told me that it's a good car when you use it less than you service it.

Engine out for a timing belt change is a myth. It isn't the best job, but can be done in situ. The 5 cyl engine is an absolute delight.
