210BHP seems a bit week for a twincharged 2 litre, its hard to judge the performance without the weight and torque figures.
Looks wise, its just a golf thats had something heavy sat on it, longer and wider and flatter :D

looks good, for what seems to be the way car design is going (podgey everything) it does very well, and appeals to me more than a c30. but then again, 19's on a standard car, why? i guess its because everything has to appear meaner, and 'better' designed than its predecessor that it sits next to on the forecourt to sell, but personally i'm not convinced: think of the bills for tyres!

performance wise, like paul says, if it has 210bhp and weighed the same as a 480 then it could be quite good, in reality it wont and will probably be a bit of a slouch. perhaps they'll treat us to a vr6/r32 type version once they sell enough of the basic ones?

what i do wonder about tho is the upgrade potential of something twin-charged, we all know that upping the boost on turbo's is a relatively easy very effective performance increaser. surely this still has the same if not more potential to rip with minimal tuning? either that or it will all be plastic and controlled by computers which stop you having any fun. i know vw have been making twin charged engines for a few years now and i'm keen to see what happens when they become financially available to someone as humble (and interested in tinkering) as myself.

but i'm pretty sure those Germans pride themselves on the ability to make very reliable cars (if somewhat dull) that are well thought out and well engineered.

i was once told that any new vw engine prototype must withstand weeks on the rev limiter on an engine dyno before it is approved for construction, but i can't remember the exact figures made me  tho.

loks like a VW anwser for C30. look a lot the same. And 210hp from 2.0 eeh, its ok, I think they have udertuned the car, for aftermarket "tuning". 'cos only aftermarket and new part are the thing that keep car makers alive. Thats why new cars are like shit and go bad fast. 170 from 1,7 is a ok to for us. :P Good, maby now the price starts droping :)

ochh ... go on then ... i'll chuck in my thoughts!

before i get started on the muecus green colour ... i don't like the shape or the seats or the interior in general ... i actually think it looks a little cheap! :dunno:

as for that colour ... yuk! I suppose they want it to stand out and Seat have knicked Yellow, Ford have reserved Orange, Hyundi have Blue, Nissan have pink ...

not the best handling car in the world
Its funny you say that because as i watched it i could only think, thats exactly what my MR2 is like to a certain extent. Mid engined, RWD,twitchy as hell, powerful and very difficult to drive on the limit. The Mk1 MR2 has the reputation of and is an awesome handling car.
Most modern cars are boring and unrewarding but the feeling you get when you drive something tricky and get it just right is amazing!
On paper my car is quicker than an EVO but in the real world its not, mostly due to the driver. The Evo's electronics and 4wd flatter the driver into thinking they are Colin Mcrae. My car gets driven medium fast in the dry and crawls in the wet, but when i drive it i enjoy it because i know its me thats doing it and not the ABS, TRACS, electronic diffs etc etc, i think thats what the Golf is about.

It was funny watching Stig drive like a Pussy though, he was scared of it!!
