Free/cheap stuff in Southampton.

I'm about to scrap a front subframe. It's been sat about under a sheet for long enough. It's got both springs, wishbones and disc/caliper assemblies all still attached. Anyone want it before it goes to the recyclers? Also got a shed load of stuff in the shed that has to go. I'm going to start clearing it out from this weekend. If you want anything then it's all for sale at much cheapness to members. I'll put it all on ebay when I get round to it but what i'm offerin at the moment is almost giveaway!

Gingerheed,

Don't suppose you'd have a complete front grille (c/w emblem etc) and/or a front splitter/spoiler in your shed??...

Thanks

Wouldnt happen to have any interesting optional kit would you? (digital clock for e.g.)

Shame I'm along way from Southampton else I'dd be interested in the subframe.

I think that ship saled long ago, however have you been to Lake's Autos? It is quite a trek for you but they have a 480 in there at the moment, tho it is crash damaged, James and Jaster got some headrests for mine from it, it may have an intact subframe, but the bumper met the wrong side of a bollard...

They have two 480's - Neither a turbo, and neither with pretty much anything salvageable now.....

There is an auto/Diesel subframe (Diesel on the 440/460) and a manual subframe, 1992 saw the change from plain rubber to oil filled gearbox mount (both are unobtainium)

possibly four versions then , auto/manual, then old/new mount?

I fitted the wrong one after modifying the mounting location, cut old mounting location/plate off the old subframe and welded onto the new one..
so new mounting welded onto OLD subframe, if fitting a new subframe into an old car , much easier as only needs a spacer?

view from rear, I wish I'd taken one showing how neat the top joint was and I suppose a samll fillet would not have done any harm?

Ahh, i thought as much, i will try lakes auto but im not holding out too much hope, i think maybe my best chance would just be to carry out some welding on my subframe after removing it and giving it a good blast all over and treating it for future. I take it the chances of finding one to fit a turbo without meddling will be too difficult and i wanna kinda get things moving so i will propose this plan of attack first.

But i will still seek, seek all the land i can until I find one to fit or still... :wall:
