I have to admit to putting VOLVO followed by the dropdown box with 480 in Autotrader by *Mistake* and not because I'm considering picking up a cheap 2ltr.....

I should think you'll be wanting a new set of shocks too and a few cans of wd40 to stop the bushes creeking!

I can do the rears for 50 squids.

depends how hard you intend to drive it m8
but recomended for sure as the originals will fail quicker with lower springs on as they will be under more compressed strain !!!

I got my shocks from here - The excel-G (gas) ones:

Rears:
https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/k ... ordID=2926

Fronts:
https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/k ... ordID=2926

I don't think you necessarily need to do everything at the same time. I believe the original front shocks (oil filled) are pretty good anyway. Not sure about the rears - they will show their age as the dust covers rust away.

Bushes are fairly cheap from here:
http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/def ... 46_538_559

But all the costs start to add up.

John, The only thing which would get me back in a major way to 480's would be another setup like Vader but without the evil and be a manual.

I miss Vader now but then maybe because I don't remember so much what a complete evil shit it was. Shame as body was super.

It will be OK on decent shocks like Bilstien since look how many people run lowering springs on 480's without KONI ect.

Be OK but not ever going to be super hardcore like having the correct shocks but hell goes around corners quicker.

I'm planning on slamming the springs in as is.. Will worry about shocks
when they expire or when I can afford to change them (whichever
comes first)

I tend to drive it like I stole it.. so they prolly won't last long...

That's the spirit!

Once you've done the springs once it's easy enough to do again. The fronts only took me about 15 minutes to swap out the other week.

I'll get them in the post on Saturday morning. Just need to find a suitable box.

running on Konis adjustables here, way better than stock ones. No more bottoming out on a hard pump.

That reminds me, you need to chop a bit off the rear bump stops.

Red ones. Stiffest in the front and rear. Still comfy and a lot of controll vs stock ones.
