Wanted: CEM III

Cleaned up the garage and found some parts you want to sell? Or are you looking for that one part? You can advertise or request just about anything that has to do with the Volvo 480 in here: brochures, towing-hooks, antenna's, etc etc...

Wanted: CEM III

Post by Captain Slow » Thu Sep 10, 2009 7:16 pm

Hi chaps,

The GT has a battery drain, over a few days this is enough to prevent the car from turning over (although central locking etc works). Anyway, we have traced the problem to the CEM, so if anyone has one lying around (a decent one!) then drop me a line!

I do know the price at the dealer, so yes, 125euro is pretty good, however glasgow jim (who else!) has made me an offer on a second hand one, so thanks, but I'll persue that

Glad CEM sorted! Yeah sure come and pick up the splitter whenever you want, just let me know nearer the time as I expect I will be spending a few days either side of Christmas at the parents (its been fixed and primed, I never got around to painting it Im afraid!).

She is a fantastic car for these long journeys! I used to take her on a 600 mile round trip to visit my parents at their old house, and she drove like a dream, and watch her MPG go waaay up! I got almost 40mpg on those journeys! Glad you are enjoying her, she's gone to a good home which I am pleased about :)

I had 43.4 t'other day :P from a long journey on A-roads (so no 70+mph parts!)

She is a pleasure to drive, holds the road much better than my 440, which i am surprised about

She's super smooth isnt she? Which is why its always surprised me that people would choose an Escort or something similar in the same price range! She's great on cornering too, I havent driven a 440 so I cant compare, but based on other small vehicles, she's the best really, the 480 seems to really hold on corners-I was in deep shock when I took to the wheel of the XR3i (Something boy racers rave about) and it handled like bambi on ice!!

the 440 has the same floorpan/chassis. the body is certainly taller, and it may have a higher ride height also. however i wasnt expecting to notice the difference as much as i have!

i driven a 440 its good but not as much.i think the two doors and glass hatch save a lot of weight.them 440 boot lids really hurt your head in an undignified hope no ones looking way when the struts are faulty.also i think some 440 had no rear antiroll bar.
