As for driving with no tax/test, it is ok to move a car if it is going to an MOT or to be repaired for an MOT. You would all have to double check it before doing it but i have heard this a lot before.
Book an MOT for £30, drive away today!!
Alternatively come down, hire a garage or something, strip it yourselves of the goodies then scrap it in cornwall!
Poor old sparky, with his immaculate leather heated seats

Yes, could I ask someone to confirm as well please, if you have a MOT booked, you can drive it on the road as long as it's within a reasonable time (ie. 2 or 3 days)?

Can only be driven if you have a prebooked MOT, on the day

I believe you can only drive to the mot station and back home to the registered address of the vehicle. anything else is illegal. and i also think the MOT station has to be within a reasonable distance from the registered address. So you dont book an mot in Aberdeen when the cars in devon!

Taken from Wikipedia - 'It is illegal to drive a non-exempt vehicle that requires a test on public roads without a current MOT, except when driving to or from a pre-booked MOT Test'

I should imagine it would also depend on the discretion of any po-lice that you encounter, your alibi (check your story) how polite or agressive you are, also the state of the vehicle (tyres brakes etc), the "its a classic that i'm going to restore to prevent this amazing and individualistic vehicle disappearing from our roads" line, and how drunk you are when they stop you!
Hehehe
I think we might have a taker (or two) will keep you updated. I hope that everyone here remembers this in a few years time when i have more time, money and a house with a garage!! I'll be looking for a free or very cheap 480 then! I miss it now. The new Astra is reliable and free but its totally soul-less and has no leather heated seats.
I saw a loverly dark green M reg one today. Reminded me of Sparky.

Going Going .......Gone!
Car will have a new forum member owner as of Sunday.
Sorry to everyone that wanted it but did not get it. If it makes you feel better it went on a first come first served definite confirmation that they wanted the car basis....
Hopefully it'll give the new owner many more years of happy use.

Paint billowing red flames from the nose cone back to the rear end of the car, I always wanted to do that with my (white) Volvo 360GLT but her indoors said no....
Like this but with a white car...
