FOR SALE- 1991 turbo manual oyster grey metallic

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

FOR SALE- 1991 turbo manual oyster grey metallic

Post by clubman_dan » Tue Jun 26, 2007 8:41 pm

i am thinking of selling my car, just testing the water at the moment, i want to know what you guys think its worth.
its a 1991 manual turbo, with lovely oyster grey metallic paintwork.
i am the second owner.
mileage is 105,000
it has had oil changed every year since new and the service book is stamped up until the last owner start doing the services himself.
it has the benefit of aircon which still blows nice and cold. it also has a momo steering wheel, genuine volvo fire extinguisher, and hard plastic bootliner.
i have fitted a full leather interior to it since purchasing.
it also has a full set of volvo carpets and full set of hard plastic mats.
body work is mint, other than a small bubble on the bottom of the driver's door and the rear lights are in excellent condition. the front clusters are virtually new and are in mint condition.

recent new (genuine) clutch cable, recent new (genuine) inlet/exhaust manifold gasket, turbo to manifold gasket and downpipe gasket fitted.
4 new tyres fitted in the last week.
i also have a huge stack of old brochures and price lists to go with the car, and a few other volvo bits and bobs like a winter pack, with de icer and rubber protector etc.
now for the bad points :(
the power steering pump is squeeling badly, i have change the fluid, but it has not helped, i think its on it way out.
there is an air leak from somewhere which is causing a rough idle. i cannot find the source of the leak.
i am not sure what to ask for the car, it is in excellent condition and has been well cared for over the years using exclusivley genuine parts.
with a bit more time you could have one of the best 480's around, but i simply don;t have the time or motivation for it any longer.
any idea what i should ask???

He did only just get it, but it's been quite well covered in the forums-basically he's pissed off with the running problems!

Tough call Dan-especially as you paid a fair bit for it. I'd hate to put a price on it, because it is bloody clean... Shame you can't sort the running probs.

Hmmm it can't be hard to fix these problems.

infact if I had the manual permit i'd buy the car and fix it myself.

it seems so stupid i know, but the problem is i have just started a community placement for my uni course, so i am racking up the miles driving about the country side, this leaves me with no money spare to get parts to repair the car, it also means i cannot afford to get it fixed by a garage (and even if i could i don't have the time, i need the car 5 days a week without fail!)
i don't want to keep driving it in this state, i don't want to ruin it!
so i have made the decision to sell it so that hopefully it can be fixed up and enjoyed as it should be, because it is one of the cleanest 480's you are ver likely to see, and hass always been maintained well regardless of cost.
i don't want to be the one who drives such a good car in to the ground..
if i sell the car, i can have temporary use of my girlfriend's until i find a suitable banger which will last me the next three months, after that i will be qualified (hopefully) and will have a job (hopefully!) and a bit more money!
i don't want you guys to think that i have neglected and not maintained the car, quite the opposite actually! i am genuinly sad to have to sell it and wish i didn't have to but i feel there is no other option.
cheers
Dan :(
