... there's a screw there. You think people try to dissasemble the dashboard without realising and it causes the damage? You're probably right! :D

That's another thing.... EVERY other 480 I've ever seen has got an LED light there for the alarm, but mine hasn't ('89 ES), and never has had by the looks of things. Is it something that was only fitted to later models? If so, how's it connected up (for next time I go to the scrappy!)? I haven't noticed any connectors behind there that aren't connected to anything...

Neither of my 1989 ES's had a LED - I think it's one of those post 1992 additions...

Thank you both i did start to wonder if i had pressed the wrong button or something and you couldn't see the mail. I have been driving her all day and enjoying every minute. The kids think she is great too. My husband Phil is going to fit the stereo over the weekend. Any advice on tightening and securing the roof lining it is down on the passanger side rear and has gone baggy also you guys might know where i can get a drivers side window motor and the rough price. Will the passanger side fit if i swop it over? I need to get it sorted soon as getting a parking ticket or drive through mcdonalds is going to be a bit of a problem. I suppose there is always the sunroof.
Thanks

Trudi,

You're bound to find a window motor if you search your local scrappies - I don't know, but the motors from the 440/460 *might* be the sameif there are no 480's in the area. Other than that, you should put a post in the "parts" section saying you want such an item - there are a number of 480s being broken at the moment with parts available. Failling that, I don't _think_ there will be much (if any) difference between drivers and passenger window parts, so you may indeed be able to just swap it over in the meantime... Check the Haynes book of lies to see if there's any obvious differences

Never actually looked at the lining and hopefully never will need to *fingers x'd* - Can't remember if there's anything about roofs in the club FAQ... hmmm - I know a couple of members have done stuff with their linings recently, so hopefully they will reply in due course

Thanks Gaz i will look in more detaill tomorrow when i get the wax and polish out. I am going to ask a typically blond question now ... on the drivers seat near the floor there is a lever that moves forward and back not the one that is to release the boot and petrol cap this one appears to be attached to the seat can you shed any ideas on what it is for.

That lever should allow you to raise and lower the seat. You push it one way, and you can adjust the height at the front of the seat, and you push it the other way to adjust the height at the back of the seat.

Ben.

Thank you Ben
I did have an idea that it was for something like that it appears not to work so a closer inspection tomorrow me thinks.

Thanks

I wonder how many people discovered that lever and what it does whilst driving... I did ;) - and then I forgot it's there and rediscover it all over again, usually whilst driving... when will I learn?!?

Glad you like the car! I'm in canada right now and was surprised to see that you had joined up for the club.

That lever thing does not work because when the leather got done the thing must have been messed up. :cryhard:

Did my dad get her out of the drive for you? I hope so otherwise you might have smashed the front up

310 for the car, I paid 2800 for her! You did well  My new turbo cost me 2500 :o but i love my turbo!

Have fun going around in her.

PS:- Don't tell you husband I called you a girl

Hello from Scotland Trudi - you're in great company with these gentlemen.

When it comes to 480's they have an unrivaled collective knowledge -
:D :hopping:

It has saved me a fortune at the garage - I personally think they should write a 'owning a 480 ' book.

 the perfect xmas gift?
dry floor and no rust . . . .

Nice to hear from all of you, such a warm welcome. Martin your Dad didn't get it out of the drive but not to worry i went very slowly !! She is still in one peice. We are gradually getting to know all the bits and bobs. Phil has fitted the cd player and the sound is great. My boys have played with just about every button. Getting her all spik and span. Phil has managed to get most of that dent out in the passanger door Martin now all it needs is a bit of T cut. Enjoy Canada.

Hi Trud,

Wow, the other half look stormy from that picture. The car was lined up with the gates so not too difficult. Phil took the doo panel off and then pushed it out from the inside you can still see the lines in the paintwork but the dent is much better. Quite a clever little so and so isnt he.

Talk soon

Trudi
