WANTED - 480 Help a man in need!
I now need a 480!
Preferable colours are: blue, red or black. But I will accept it in any colour, yes even in white! Provided of course that its in decent nic.
Little or no rust, working electronics, and no water leaking in would be great.
Also milage under or around 100k
Oh and not too far from London as well
Thanks
David

All 480's are DIRT cheap to insure because boy racer's dont drive/steal them. There will be little/no difference in insurance price from 1.7 to 2.0 and prob £40/50 extra P.A. for the turbo. I pay £350 a year for my 2.oi TPFT (tesco's)
The 2.0i is JUST powerfull enough. Its not properly fast - its more of a tourer than a racer. Still, It beats most chav cars from the lights. It has 110HP as standard. I think the 1.7 is about 100HP? Both engines are nearly impossible to mod. The 1.7 turbo has 120 hp as standard and can be easily, cheaply (£80ish) to 165ish HP. Don't forget that this is a HEAVY car for its size, mainly due to the giant steel safety bars in the roof and doors etc. If i could choose again, I would have the Turbus.
They all (apart from the S models) have a nice standard spec of heated seats, electirc heated mirrors computer etc etc. Whatever one you get (as long as the gadjets work) will make you happy!

HEAVY? What planet are you on boy!! They're made out of foil, and weigh only a fraction over a tonne. A corsa weighs more!Matthew Brennan wrote:Don't forget that this is a HEAVY car for its size, mainly due to the giant steel safety bars in the roof and doors etc. If i could choose again, I would have the Turbus.

We are closer to the equator down here in Devon, therefore the car weighs proportionally more than a car from 'the north' mightJohnTurbo wrote:HEAVY? What planet are you on boy!! go for the turbo if you can find a good one, the feeling when you hit 3000rpm and the boost comes is addictive.
its great for the traffic light gp, because the chavs think they have a chance in their corsa... then the boost comes and its byeeeee!!

Im SOLD on the TUURBOOO
Im going to be totally honest. I scare myself in my current (embassingly crap) car that only has a 1.1 engine. I like driving fast, pushing the machine and myself, but also sensibly. I like to push it to its limits whilst keeping as safe as possible.
I'm not sure what the 1.7 let alone the Turbo would feel like. But I know I want to find out!!
I guess its a case of getting used to it and having the acceleration there if and when you need it.
Just need to find one now. Anyone!???
What were you driving before your 480? Did you feel the differeance in pull?

i drove a mini before owning a 480, i started with a 2.0 which felt pretty quick to me, the 2.0 is a good engine, its smoother than the 1.7 ones.
going to the turbo was wierd. its like the exact opposite of the 2.0, it isnt up to much until about 3000rpm then it takes off, the 2.0 is pretty quick until about 3.5k then starts tailing off.

Sorry mate, but due to the ellipsoid shape of the earth, the poles are closer to the core than the equator, and therefore gravity is strongest the further north you go, so therefore the weight increases the further north you goMatthew Brennan wrote: We are closer to the equator down here in Devon, therefore the car weighs proportionally more than a car from 'the north' might

Well that's what uni says but i googled for it and google told me otherwise and everyone knows that google is more right than most things. What was this topic about to start with?98kellrs wrote:Sorry mate, but due to the ellipsoid shape of the earth, the poles are closer to the core than the equator, and therefore gravity is strongest the further north you go, so therefore the weight increases the further north you goMatthew Brennan wrote: We are closer to the equator down here in Devon, therefore the car weighs proportionally more than a car from 'the north' might

Vader = slow even with t25 etc etc
