Volvo 480 Turbo, 54k miles, auto, black for sale. M reg

Cleaned up the garage, found parts laying around, but it turned out to be a complete Volvo 480? If you want to sell your car (480 only) you can place an advert here.

Post by amirhashmi » Wed Apr 06, 2005 10:23 am

Hello all. I have been a 480 fan for a long time now and it is with regret that I am selling my 480 Turbo.

All details can be found on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... RK:MESE:IT

The 480 is very nice and totally original with a super low mileage.

I am based in London.

Thx,
Amir

I like it and i am very diapointed that you would choose an MR2 of the 480.

Can you tell me if there has been any problems with clutch, gearbox, turbo etc etc Has it ever had any marjor services of any kind?

Thanks for your time,

Tom

Hi All, sorry for replying so late to you all!

I love 480s and this is my second one. I also happen to love MK1 MR2's and Porsche 944's!

The MR2 is a VERY rare car as it is the Supercharger from Japan and is in a very rare colour. Its got the T-bar and climate control etc so is perfect for summer. I would REALLY like to keep both but just cannot justify it.

Pricewise, I am looking for around the £1500 mark which is nothing at all really considering this 480 needs nothing done to it.

Thanks,
Amir

Just to add there are no issues with anything at all with this 480. Every single electrical item works as it should. The clutch and gearbox function perfectly and the turbo pulls excellently.
This is not your average 480! I know because I have seen lots!

There have been all the usual Volvo services and after looking at the bills, no major work has ever been required. Just the usual brakes etc.

Thanks,
Amir

ps. If any of you do want to see pics of the MR2 then go to www.amirhashmi.org! I'm not trying to convert anyone because the MR2 and 480 are two very different cars that I believe cannot be compared. But I am sure we are all car lovers here so can appreciate quality and fun.
I am going to put pics of the 480 up there to later sometime.

I have no idea why gays own old MR2 :dunno: I like that car ;)
When production of 480 was started my friend was in Sweden and he tested 480 for free. He liked that car but his boss told him: 'Never admit that you like this car. It's for women' :)

No am not a clueless dickhead thank u very much, just trying to front the 480. Many engineers once told brunel that he was completely clueless for trying to submit designs for the clifton suspension bridge at spans ranging from 870ft - 916ft. His spans were rejected and it was claimed that the longest possible spans at that time were a maximum of 600ft. Only in May of 1848 Isambard produced his Usk Viaduct bidge, spanning well over 1200ft, consequently proving his doubters unquestionably wrong. So it is on this basis that i shall claim that, in time, you will realise that my statements of selling a 480 turbo over an MR2 are in fact correct and thus give myself brunel status.......why thank you. I shall charge for any future statements as my time is precious.

Steve-o.

p.s ive noticed a little bit of rust over the drivers' side rear wheel arch...what shall i do? Any advice is much appreciated as i know not much.

sell it and buy an MR2!!

much as i love my 480 turbo if i had the choice i would have a supercharger over a 480 any day.

if you had driven both, which i suspect you havent, you would know that the MR2 can outhandle and outpower any 480 (maybe except richards!) in fact, whenever you drive them you cant help but smile.
of the 5 people that have have driven my MR2, 4 of them immediatley went out and bought a mk1 mr2, 2 of these people were mk2 mr2 owners!

also, look at the prices?! a SC (if you can find one!) will cost you 3-5k whereas you can buy a mint turbo of the same age for £600!

as for comparing yourself to Brunel, that just reminds me of youthful arrogance but, time will tell and we will see what you produce in the future! :D

To be honest i only made the statement coz u were selling a 480 over an MR2! I was only joking and obviously didnt fully suggest that you were gay! But the reaction was quite ammusing  and im sure that the MR2 is amazing fun to drive, almost as fun as an Austin Healey 3000 perhaps a ferrari 355 or a 911SC, but then i suspect you havent driven them so one can never assume anothers experiences affecting ones' opinion!!!
