Re: 11th August Scotland Mobile Mini Meet
We had an absolute blast this weekend at the scottish meet. Travelled up friday and stopped over in the lakes then travelled on up to the third meet point through the morning. Considering the epic miles (from Bucks/Bicester) my 480 did amazingly well, and never missed a beat. Was amazing to see Frasers 480, a stunning machine and to meet some new faces. Great to meet you Alan. Another well organised and fun meet at great locations. Slightly disappointed by the turn out but anything more than 2 480's is a great thing and it certainly didn't distract from the enjoyment!
Popped in to see my 480's old owner, from 8 years ago too. That added to the fun and he was so chuffed to see it and have a little drive in her again! He said it still feels so nice and tight still. Nice to hear she's not feeling older than she did 8 years ago
All in all I am so pleased we took the plunge to go. 2 tanks full of V Power near enough and averaged about 34.4 MPG. Man these cars love to just sit on the motorway, they feel like they could go for ever!
Gutted James couldn't make it. I hope you get her sorted very quickly. Also a shame about Sylvias turbo, but I'm sure it will be sorted asap.
We have some great photos to share, I'll share the link when they are sorted.
Roll on Hampshire meet!!

Re: 11th August Scotland Mobile Mini Meet
We had a great weekend despite all the probems. Bad news started before we left with arthuy's smoke grey celebration out due to leaky pas pipe and Will from the fb group had an unexpected MoT fail with some hidden rust needing both welding and fabrication on his white celeb. On Saturday morning it looked like this
Al and I left on Thursday and went to collect some spares in Derbyshire, including a power steering rack complete with pipes and hoses. It hadn't been disassembled so it was like packing an octopus into a very strange shaped box, but it got there in the end. We stayed overnight at Scotch corner, then carried on to Glasgow on Friday to visit my son and his family. Along the way, I had a sudden brief loss of power - it came back with a lurch, but there was a lot less of it ! By the time we got to Glasgow I was convinced the turbo had seized. Al had a look under the bonnet and found a pipe had split and come off. Phew, I thought, but too soon. He managed to get the remnant off the connection and get the slightly shorter hose back on, but still no turbo so I had a lame duck for the weekend.
Colin and his wife plus Rodney the hound joined us for the morning in their other Volvo so I was able to pass the awkward box on and hopefully we'll end up with a source for replacement plumbing courtesy of Colin.
Then at the Kelpies came James' awful news, then Rachel got in touch to say she had been delayed and wouldn't make Knockhill. So that meant that the 7 cars for the photoshoot had dwindled to 3. At least mine still looked good, even if it didn't exactly drive good and thankfully that was the end of the bad news. My son came along with us as he is a keen photographer, so I will wait for his much more professional pics before I post any from there. Note to self - email the events director and thank him for the use of the assembly area, so we got the iconic hill complete with aerial masts in the background.
The sun shone all day and lunch at the Boathouse was very good. We had a table on the decking with a great view straight out over the lake (oops, sorry, loch). Rachel joined us there and Aaron should have some great photos taken hanging out of Rachel's car. We had a pitstop for drinks and my bonnet went up yet again for another grope around turbo pipes, but nothing more was found apart from a small yellow plastic cap which looks as though it's been pushed into rubber somewhere. mmmmm
We duly arrived at Cove Bay Hotel - very picturesque but not as good looking as the sight of 2 more 480s awaiting us in the car park. Cranna21 and Alan 480 joined the group having another look under my bonnet and confirmed absolutely nothing coming from the blower. Looking under Cranna's bonnet proved MUCH more interesting, his wheels are just gorgeous, the new interior is looking great, and I could quite see why he sold me the pinstripes instead of putting them on his own car.
Alan joined us for the evening meal and was very entertaining, it was difficult to get a word in so definitely no awkward silences ! The food was good, our room was great and the staff were very friendly so all in all a good choice.
As I have said before, it's the people that make our meets a success and that makes all the planning so very worthwhile. Roll on Hampshire....

Re: 11th August Scotland Mobile Mini Meet
I have to agree! it was great to put some faces to names! would have loved to have stayed a good bit longer but alas, work to be done!
I'll see if I can make a more southern meet next year if there are any on the cards however this year it's almost time for the 480 to be tucked up in the shed and dismantled *again* to try and sort out many minor issues that are just causing havoc!
thank you very much for the organisation, Sylvia!

Re: 11th August Scotland Mobile Mini Meet
Hello again 480 Peeps,
Sorry for my prolonged absence from the fold, and double sorry I was unable to make it to the August mini-meet up in Scotland. The main reason for not being around has been the arrival of another gorgeous and irresistible drain on my finances, in the shape of the lovely Margot who joined us last June - now a year and a bit old, two-toothed and as fabulous as the day is long.
I did try to make it to the mini-meet though (honest!!) - My black 'S', last seen at the Derwent Water gathering last year, was in for her MOT in July, but sadly failed on too much to rectify before the August deadline. Mainly stuff that goes wrong if you park up in a damp and leaky garage for 12 months (e.g. seized calipers, leaking exhaust joints) but the surprising discovery of two cracked suspension springs also meant a longer wait to get back on the road. I've also asked my garage to sort out the fitting of the replacement injector seals kindly donated last year by Ade, so with any luck my hot starting problems will go away...
That is my intention though, and I plan on using the car as my daily drive between now and the onset of winter. Happy to hear of any further plans for get togethers, and I do look forward to popping the lights for fellow 480 nuts in the near future.
All the best!
Martin

Re: 11th August Scotland Mobile Mini Meet
Great to hear from you again Martin, and so pleased you still have your lovely 480. Now the newest little MM is a bit less time consuming perhaps you can tear yourself away to give us an update on the repairs. Make the most of the baby MMs - it will seem no time at all until it's all teenage tantrums .
The October meet in Hampshire might be a bit too far south for you, but I will probably do Derbyshire again next year. Margot will be running circles round you by then if she isn't already !!
