New menu for the Volvo 480 Club EU Website?
Hi everyone,
I have been experimenting a bit with different menus we could use for the club and I have found one that I like pretty much!
You can find it: here
Don't expect the items to work, it's all about the menu-structure. I personally think it looks better than the menu we use right now, but I want to know if it works with more browsers than only IE... Have already done a little tweaking to get it to work with Opera 7
So please let me know what you think of it

I like it, although not too keen on the colour. Out current scheme would probably look quite nice though
Something I've noticed:
Do you get to choose the column widths for the menus, because if you look at what it does when you highlight "Meetings, 2001, Maymeeting (May), when the text goes bold, it moves from a single line to a double line and doesn't look tidy (in my oppinion). It could be solved though, by simply making the column slightly larger to cope with the bolder text, if it's possible to do.
Other than that, it looks pretty smart!
Ben.

Probably not, I think the top menu would disappear and the menu would be placed on the left side of the forum. But it would mean that from the forum you could easily reach any page you want!
And about the colors, I haven't done anything about them as it is just a first test. This is one of the few forums that is NOT an applet (so requires no JVM (Java Virtual Machine) to be installed on the computer), it's free, it's clear and it's good The colors will be adjusted to match the website of course.

Just edited the menu-script a bit, matches the website better already. This way maybe you can see better what it would look like on the website...

My own thought it that it's not a major problem what it looks like - the current works, the new one works, unless there's something glaringly bad about either as far as HCI is concerned (which there isn't), then people will probably just say "whatever".
I like the font on the new one - but there isn't a vote choice for that...

Well, main point on the post was that I wanted to see if anyone would come complaining that his/her browser doesn't support this D-HTML menu. So far it seems that Netscape 4, Opera 7 and MS IE (5?) support D-HTML menus.
I think I will add this menu to the site anyway as it makes navigation much more simple

OK, here's my results:
1) Works Perfectly in Opera 7/SUN Solaris 2.8
2) Doesn't work at all in Netscape 4.79/SUN Solaris, but it does render the options as a nice list - not sure what this might look like if it's part of a webpage though...
3) It works, but is VERY buggy with IE under SUN/Solaris (i.e. the menu moves down the screen when you highlight the last 3 options, so you end up "chasing" the menu box down the screen and ultimately you cannot choose the last 3 options at all)
