480 badge for tailgate by Renault!:-)

A long while back I posted a thread on here about re-badging my car.Nothing was done at the time but I kept my idea in mind.I will share this with you now......

I saw one of the Renault Magnum 480 hp trucks on my travels.I noticed that the font or lettering style on this badge, behind the door was the same as the late 440 and 460 boot badges.

The badge simply reads "480" .I thought that if they had carried on making the 480 as long as they had the 440 and 460 it would have had a badge update to this style for sure.

So,I have ordered one on just having received a call from a Renault Truck dealer in Diss, near me.

When he has this badge in we will measure it and see if its not too big for the tailgate and doesnt look stupid!

If anyone else wants one then, its Renault part number 5010468868 and the price is £19.30 + VAT.

I figured that this badge on the right where it says 480******,then some of the chrome Volvo 960 tailgate letters in the usual place!

Steve. :D

Volvo did make one. I believe Lee swapped his "480 Turbo" badge for one which just reads "480". Unfortunatly, when I enquired about a year ago, I was told they were unable to obtain just the "480" any more. :( It's part number, in case you want to try and get one (let me know if you succeed!) is 3485665.

Ben.

hmmm... have to say, the Turbo badge is probably the last one I'd want to remove. Unless you were going for stealth... not really possible with an exhaust system like Lee's got tho....

I removed me Turbo badge...tough call, but i was *sick* of little boys sitting on my arse and wanting to race. I look at my Dad's and sometimes think it would be better on....but i can live without it. It's then a little surprise if i do decide to floor it! Got a small white club URL there instead...

With regards to the badge-couldn't you 'mash' one up? Take the '4' and '0' from the 440/60, and then find and '8' off an S80 badge or something? The S80's have the same typeface as the facelift 400's, but i would imagine the only problem would be finding a scrapped S80. Worth keeping your eyes peeled for though...

You've only had the car about a month!

Simple solution to the little boys, don't race. Get all 'volvo' on their arse and stick religiously to the speed limit. That'll piss 'em off more than they piss off you.

Ah well, what's done is done.

@Bennus The 480 badge that I'm meaning Ben isnt one that was actually made for our cars.BUT,all our badges were made by Renault and supplied to Volvo apparently. So its quite a nice continuation of trend, without wanting to sound like a wanker!!!!!

This Renault badge I have ordered is,as you say, just reading 480,as on the Celebs.BUT,its in the same letter style as on the M-P plate 440 and 460.See what I mean?

The badge on the Renault Magnum truck,u see,is in that same style, something I just happened to notice on my travels.I imagined that if the 480 had been made as long as the 440/60 it MAY have had a badge update in this style lettering. If you see a Y/51/52 plated 480 bhp Magnum truck, look just behind the door handle.Theres the 480 badge!

Eagle-eyed eh?Im proud of this! :hopping:

Or get really 480 on them, suddenly loose power and come to a halt causing massive tailback and make them push you off the road, that'll teach the blighters!

After all this fannying around with this poxy badge, its not the same font as the Volvo later lettering !!!

Or should I say,it is,but the latters are flatter and not so raised.

My verdict is that it would look complete toss on my car and shall be burning it on a small plank in my yard! :kill:
