Extra Power from a 480 GT
What is the best way to get more power from my 2.0 GT '94 as it seems to lake pulling from the lights and could do with that little extra.
Please could you let me know what options are available and what you can get for your money.
Cheers everyone.

sell it. buy a turbo
edit: wasn't particularly helpfull i know but it gets asked again and again, search the forum for other similar threads. if you're going to mod the 2.0 for performance its going to be a one of a kind and as a result be costly/difficult. 480's are available with a turbo engine as standard which has more power and torque and can be 'chipped' by the lovely rich cheaply for a ~50bhp increase. N/A engines require much more patience and investment just to get to power levels which are easy to do with a turbo. If you want a 480 with (moderate) performance the 2.0 was the wrong choice IMHO.
luck

Well! Cheers for the advice but to be honest the turbo is not for me I prefer even power distribution and dont like the idea of how expensive a turbo will be to replace if anything goes wrong. Once again thank you and now i know i will have to investigate the local tunning companies to see what can be done and how much and let you know.
Cheers again
Cheers again

Use very high octane fuel. I think that the east of england has a tesco 99 ron? Re-set the ecu and then drive it like a mentalist. The ecu will learn you are evil and will give you a bit more poke.
Pipe some cold air into a performance air filter, change the spark plugs and leads for new ones (i assume you only just bought the car?)
Aside from that your less feasable options are
Superchips do a chip for it its £200+ for a massive 8HP gain,
You can fit an exhaust from a 1.7 car to the 2.0i this will give you a couple more hp,
There was talk of a performance camshaft for the engine (prob expensive)
Nitrous/water injection?
Fit a chevrolet 2.5 litre v6 (I hear its not too much modding to do) engine.

High octane fuels only help with pinking and with the standard ignition advance map i wouldnt of thought it would pink that much! turbos, 98 ron + fuels definately help, standard n/a engines - i don't think so much

yes!!! i have only just bought the car.... Yeah my first one!!!!
I have already put performance plugs and leads in the motor plus an oil change for the synthetic stuff that is recommended. I have giving it a dose of fuel system cleaner and high octane fuel.
Cheers for that.
the chip seems a bit of a waste of time to be honest.
thanks!!!!!

I agree with VBB. I only use Shell Optimax and you can tell the difference when you have flushed out all the ordinary 95 RON crap. It also makes my car run smoother. How do you reset your ECU and is it worth doing?
