Im gonna see Gaz's thread now,its the only time Ill be seeing that nice Flamer again this side of 2010 probably!

Decat on my 2litre has made it more responsive for both driving hard and economical. So if you drive hard it goes quiker that with a CAT but mpg goes down. But if you drive for economy you get better mpg than with CAT.

Guys,

I'll see what happens. Just got rid of the cat, so in a few days I must be able to tell you guys if it payed off.

One thing I know for sure, the extra power it brings is definitely worth it, and the sound is really sweet. The engine runs smoother and picks up more easily.

And for the MOT, or APK, I still have the old one, so in case the car fails, than this one will be on the car again. I was surprised to see that the spare cat I had, was actually broken when I removed it from my old car.

So, it was fun to see the ammount of replies on this topic. I'll definitely let you guys know what happens to te fuel economy.

What have you actually done? Just knocked out the insides of a spare one, or had a replacement pipe put in?

I have a spare car, so I took the cat underneath it and discovered that this cat was allready dead, so i took a steal pipe and smashed the insides of the cat out till it was completely empty. My advice is to use a mouthcap while doing this, because it becomes very dusty :-). Nobody can tell if the insides of the cat are harmfull, so it's better to be carefull with that.

Putted the empty cat underneath my car and had to wait for about 2 days untill the car was used to the new configuration (drove about 200 km). I really had the idea that the car had to get used to it somehow.

Anyway, the car drives very good now, and it used a very little less fuel, hardly noticable. The sound is very sweet tho. Expecially when the turbo gains speed :-)

I can recomend it, tho it's usefull to have a spare cat incase you don't pass the MOT or APK

Nice, sounds good. Glad it worked for you, I reckon I might give it a go too then!

Red, just seen some of your pics at the bottom of your post; there seems to be lots going on in that cockpit of yours!! Don't know whether it's just lights or gadgets, but it looks quite cool. Any pics or info on what you have done there? Or could you point me towards a thread that you may have written about it?

Many thanks

Oh yes, and @ Williewammes, can you actually hear the turbo spool any louder, as in noticeably louder, or is it just a louder exhaust noise in general?

Hey,

The sound is actually a little bit deeper than before. But I can actually hear the turbo now, I never had that before.

It's just a little whistling sound during acceleration. As I said before, highly recomendable :D

And I can not say this enough, The car runs smootly now, more than it did before. Anyway, You should find out for yourself

Guys,

Finnaly I can tell you all, the car uses less fuel than before. Not much, but it is noticable. Expecially in the morning when I drive to work, I can notice that with the same driving style, it uses less fuel.

So, this 480 driver is becoming more and more happy

By the way, thanks for all the advice, without it I would have thought twice before removing it, now I'm glad I did.
