1.7 ex manifold on 2.0L. YES
hI all see my post, make 2.0i quicker- tuning tweaking-p3 regards joe
thanks for the pics mate
it looks as though its been welded perhaps thats the way to go
take a 2.0l manifold chop it just after the bolts and get someone with welding skills to weld on the tubular sections from the 1.7 manifold
as to how much it would cost and what gains could be made I don't know
however I would like to find out![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Not sure which one this is to honest. What would it take to get brand new desgined manafold made big and shinny etc.
Years ago a friend of mine had a 1.7, which had to have the manafold replaced cost him an arm and a leg cos they to either lift or drop the engine to conect it. Not sure this was entirely nesessery.

A nice new manifold from Longlife (yes they make them) will cost you 450 quid or so, mostly due to the amount of work involved and the number of strange shape bends required.Turnipman wrote:Years ago a friend of mine had a 1.7, which had to have the manafold replaced cost him an arm and a leg cos they to either lift or drop the engine to conect it. You would also need to know what is required, since making a copy of the 1.7 manifold in bigger tube won't work. Sadly manifolds don't scale like that

Not sure there is much of difference, the 2litre one seems to take a more direct route (less bendy) and might be smidgin smaller. Untill there comes the time tha i need to replace my manafold i don't think i will be attempting this mod.
450 thats a fook load for a new manafold, I was thinking that felix lives in or around bristol, as we all now the home of chaved up cars. Hense why you seem to get things done wicked cheap and actually get it done, like the clutches you got done well impressed with the cost of those. What i am getting at is fuck longlife get some chav garage to make one much much cheaper.
So just increaseing the cc doesn't help with getting better flow?
Logic says less bends and more room for gas to pass makes more BHP. I have no fucking idea.

Waste of money on the 2l £450 for a manifold!
For the money get a fast road cam and head porting.
But then ya pays your money and takes your choice.....................

I agree with you Jamo / JT.
Sadly the 480 is a bit of a bastard of a car to make a manifold for. If it where some sort of crossflow, then it would be reasonably cheap.
Talking to several companies about this, it seems that teh 480 is the most difficult they have come across. The way it's all fitted together makes it a lot of work to match the pipe ends to the ports / flanges, and still have everything fit in the available space.
I dare say you could find someone who would cut off the old pipes, and replace them with a random shape/size bit of stainless. That would be cheaper, but isn't likely to have any sort of positive effect on performace.

Would appreciate that atex - the big Q of can we get a 1.7 manifold onto the big 2.0!!
The manifold from my dad's 440 1.7 SPI was once flow-tested (or whatever it is my dad does for a living...) and was declared a very nice bit of kit. I heard Porche had something to do with it?!?
Not the same story with the 2.0 tangle... very restrictive, nasty nasty bit of pipe-work! Grr!
