Porsche 928 / Volvo tuning

I heard that Porsche tuned the original 480 engine (pre turbo) but Volvo detuned it as they deemed it tto racey for a volvo.
Does anyone know what volvo did to bring the power down.
I heard the Porsche 928 has the same ECU as the 480 but uses 2 of them to control it's 8 cylinders.
Has anyone compared the maps of these ECU's to see if or how they differ?
Can anyone point me to good info on Eprom tuning as I'd like to understand better about what's going on inside the ECU?

The combustion characteristics are different when comparing the Heron headed B18FT and Porsche V8.

Browse through the post of Tobi480Turbo and Rpruen, this will have some clues in them.
