I know that T3 came in various forms (on a VW 1.6TD als o uses a T3 but is only good for 75bhp), but I never thought that Volvo (or VAG) put a turbo with so much capacity on a diesel. I dont think they were aiming at 200bhp with a 2.4TD?

Edit: forget this

I just thought of this indication:
capacity*boost*rev
2.4TD:
2,4*1,6*4500=17280

B18FT:
1,7*X*5500=17280

X=1,85 bar so 0,85 bar boost on a B18FT with T3 should be OK and even a little bit more

Thats interesting, I didn't know Volvo have ever produced an engine! The mrs has a Laguna RTi 16v and when I came to fix the crankshaft oil seal it had a 2.2 Renault turbo diesel block, a 16v Renault head with Volvo stamped on it! and an M60 gearbox.

Whoever makes it its no more responsive without a turbo bolted on than a B20F, even though it is a 16v. And when you're in fifth its so noisey that you wish you had a six gear. And it burns 2litres of oil every six months.

Reliable though.

Intresting...

Could you confirm that the engine code is N7Q in Laguna RTI 16V?
It has the JC5 gearbox in the Laguna so it compatible with the M60 box. (the T4 uses a Volvo gearbox same as 850)

The cylinderhead should be Volvo design (same as 850/960 engine) which has different valve size the the Renault F7P, F7R and F4R.

I'm pretty sure that its supposed to be N7Q but they must have run out of them on the production line when the mrs' car was put together because none of the standard oil seals and gaskets fitted. We ended up having to use 2.2TD parts in the cylinder block.

:hopping:
Jee
I have done some measurings and T5 will fit!!!!
Certainly there must to do a lot of work to set the engine to sit pretty!
But overriding is that its fit :D
850 gearbox is too big :( but all is doable
Is there any variants to put another gearbox onto a t5 engine?
I cant find in the I-net any good pics&stories

I know no gearbox that even might an option to put on a B42x5T engine.
Although with a adaptorplate on the flywheel housing everything might be possible. Pleas look at the automatic (Aisin Warner?) check other cars which has the same automatic and check out the manual gearbox on these cars.

The motronic is a lot more sophisticated then the LH-jetronic. If one man can, RPRuen certainly would be the man. Be if he's intressed is a second thing.

Dont forget that this engine/ gearbox combo is about 35-50 kg heavier then the orginal setup so you need longer (and/or stiffer) springs.

I don´t know yet!Too many ideas in the head going around!
I want to do somenthing stupid like the fastest Volvo in Estonia ;)
I was thinking if i can my 480 turbo´d with T5 and after that supercharged and ECU modded, it would be a craziest volvo ever tuned in this little country called Estonia!

I need that engine anyway, cos i am looking for an old skoda(rear engine :D )

But it takes a little time when i raise some money, cos with a couple of friends we go to the Eurotrip and something in there(Europe) eat a lot of money :)
