resistor and tuned computer (purple)
just wondering, I opened a tuned ecu and found (when compared to standard one with same colour and number) in stead of one resistor 2 resistors.
What resistance will they have ?!?
It's (or they when tuned?!?!?) are located behind a black plastic box where that air hose is going in. To measure turbo pressure or so ?!?
Thanks and greetz

The output signal of the MAP sensor (voltage) is modified with these two resistors. If you can see the colour combination on the resistors then you know the resistance (Ohm). Or just put a potmeter in it. Then you can choose the boost cut between 0 and unlimited bar (or psi).
There's only one but. The MAP signal is also used for the igntion timing. Lowering the MAP voltage too much you dont get the retard orginal intended. On the other side I have never heard complaints about this on this forum.
I believe you can change 5 parameters in de ECU (EZK) by resistors. (Boost cut, ignition advance, knock sensor sensitivity and 2 other things)

Time ago a scandinavian guy published (not on this forum) a trick to change maximum set boost by changing the value of one resistor and getting rid of another one, involved were #206 and #207. It was quite primitive, but well followed up. (maybe because of that)
If you see two resistors soldered in and if they are horsepacked, it could very well be that this the altered resistor and horsepacking has been done to get the right value.

2 resistors
indeed, 2 resistors soldered in in stead of one and they are packed.
they are located r207.

Maybe you want to start from scratch and undo the "tuning" ? In that case it may help to know that R206, which probably has been removed, originally has the value of 10 KOhms and R207 was originally 4.7 KOhms.
Metaloxide resistors were used for stability in time, accuracy 1%.

i have done this conversion, it lasted for about 100km, than back to standard - as the ECU finds out, it was twicked and sees it as an error and compensates it. but was fun when it worked!

Maybe this will fit:

Looks very promising. Although the price is a bit steep. The JDSPorsche LH2.3 SharkTuner for the Porsche 928 (MY 1987 onwards) allows the optimisation of the fuel and ignition maps to ensure optimum performance from the engine. This is particularly important if the engine has been modified in any way e.g. change of exhaust system, supercharger.
The SharkTuner is a hardware interface between the LH ECU (fuel injection computer) or the EZK ECU (igntion computer) and a laptop computer. A custom Windows interface program runs on the laptop, and a slave microcontroller in the SharkTuner acts as the interface between the laptop and the LH ECU.
The SharkTuner allows the operator to make changes in real time to the software of the LH ECU by modifying a special EPROM binary files provided with the SharkTuner. The standard EPROM is unplugged from the LH ECU, and the SharkTuner data lead plugged into the EPROM socket.
The SharkTuner is powered by the diagnostic connector fitted to all 928s. When any changes to the EPROM data have been finalised, these changes are saved, and this new data file is programmed into a new EPROM, using a low cost EPROM programmer. This modified EPROM is then fitted to the remapped ECU, which then can be refitted to the car.
The SharkTuner is now also available with a LH2.2 update option which allows full fuel remapping for the 85/86 LH2.2 equipped early US/Euro 32v (engine types M28/43 & 44 and M28/45 & 46), and also the Euro 16v LH2.2 MY85-86 (engine type M28/21 & 22). Please note that the early MY 84 Euro 16v is not supported at present. Some features available with the LH2.2 SharkTuner are not available with the LH2.2 version, as indicated below. This update also adds a set of auxillary inputs which can be used for real time monitoring and datalogging of external sensor inputs e.g boost sensors. The WBO2 input law can also be editted for use with more variants of WBO2 systems. Please refer to the LH2.2 User Manual, available from the link on the left of this screen.

It would fit the ECU ok, but unfortunatly the map locations are not going to be the same.Ettore Bugatti wrote:Maybe this will fit:

I would think the maker could adjust it to fit the 480 if they wanted to.
