How much has yours cost?

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

How much has yours cost?

Post by Roo » Tue Apr 12, 2005 10:47 am

I've just totalled up the service costs for keeping my 480 on the road

My car is a 480T with 73k and FSH and 1 owner
The previous owner spent £7,453.23 on servicing
He bought it new for £15,934.35 in June 1994 he added a loadliner and floortrays as accessories.
It was returned for 4 F.O.C repairs under warranty!
it is on its 3rd moonroof so far amongst other things.
Since I bought it in September 2004 i've spent £286.18 keeping it on the road.
I think i've come off quite lightly so far considering all of the 480's "charms"
Anyone else got an interesting history?

the only thing i know wrong with mine is a centre exhaust rubber mount which will cost all of £3
oh and i know my left hand light is well out of allignment so nothing too bad.....dont want no scary suprsies like my last 480! Had a bill for £360 which included flexi hoses, pads and discs, handbrake cables, two tyres, siezed calliper, they left me off worn rear bushes and a slightly blowing exhaust as i think they felt sorry for me!!

Loads!

Post by catgroom » Tue Apr 12, 2005 1:15 pm

Loads but Im lucky to get insurance after a bad run after 9 yrs with a clean licence.Cost of car 2300,insurance 1300,2x MOT failures 500 for both,2 tyres 135,say 500 for parts for servicing,7 for seat belt arm,s/h fixed focus, both! 60,digital clock-18,yes 18!!!!!!!!!!leather hide to trim interior cards,20 as sold on and got 30 back on hide, springs and shocks nowt as from my black last Turbo.

So thats 3550 minus insurance, and doing up to 1000 miles a week I get my money's worth too,if u take off fuel!!!!!!!!

Hmm,

I think the most expensive thing is the time I´ve spent at the car, but even the Money I´ve spent since buying it must be a lot since yet ... dunno excatly anymore how much. I bought it for 1200DM ( ~600€ ) it´s a red 1991 480 turbo then bought another one for spares ( was a Paris edition as I know now :/ ) for 250€ and then started to spent lot´s of money and time for the engine conversion thinggy ( new stronger clutch, injectors, Bearings, TB25 turbocharger, sealings and lot´s of more stuff ).

But at least it´s running ;)

Regards

Tobi
