Hi. It was me that posted about the 480 with 139 miles on the clock.
It is, as I said, in showroom condition. It's hardly been outside let alone sat in a barn rusting away. You could quite easily think this car was built yesterday and just delivered to the dealer.
I was told it is started regularly and MOT'd every year even though it doesn't go anywhere. That has to be a good sign? My guess is you could drive this away, BUT would you?
The car even smelled like a new one inside with unmarked or creased leather. Amazing!
It's in a lovely deep maroon colour which sparkled. I was absolutely taken by it. However, I was also told the owner wanted quite a lot of money for it. I haven't a clue what it would be worth so thought someone on the Volvo site might know. Now I have found this forum, I am sure someone will have a clue?

A bit of a cliche, but it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. A classic dealer recently had a low mileage Manta B (something I know a little more about than 480s) which he put up for £6995. Everyone who commented on the Manta Club forum reckoned it was possibly worth half of this figure at most, as it was the least desirable model, and even the most desirable production car (Exclusive Coupe) would probably only fetch £4-5000 in similar condition. To my amazement, the car sold within a month. I've since heard that the dealer gave £6000 for then car in px against an E-Type.
If you find someone who loves 480s, and wants the best, then this car could feasibly fetch a lot of money if it is as nice as it sounds.

It really depends several variables. Here in holland, if it's a 2.0 GT in a nice colour, than the 480 could worth as much as 8000 euro's. If it's a model from the first series, with no updates (which were necessary and done by most of the early ones) than it could be worth no more than 2000 euro's.
As for the 1800es, prices vary between 8 to 25 k euro. Even with a poor spray job you could be looking at a price between 10 to 20 k euro.
But it really depends on the market.

I own a S60 D5 auto, but was very taken by this outstanding 480.
The 1800ES tickled my fancy as my father in law bought a brand new Gold one back in the early 70's. He kept it for the 2 year lease and then traded it in for a Jag. He was the envy of all of Exeter!

Are you sure from the year and description you don't mean A P1800ES as opposed to a 480? This is the car used for the Saint, and generally in good condition is worth a shed load more than any 480. 480's weren't in production until 1984/85 I think.
However, any car with 139 miles, personally I'd leave as it's never been driven, and 480's hate not to be driven usually. That said, if it's been kept together despite not being used, possibly worth something, but a standard ES will never really be as desirable as a late model Turbo/Celeb/GT as these are the cars most people want as later models were better built, and they are usually still a pain!

Hi. I saw TWO cars owned by the same guy. One is a 480 with only 139 miles on the clock and has been MOT'd yearly. It has been stored in a showroom all this time and in my view, you would be able to drive it home today without too many worries. It truly is immaculate and like new. Apparently the engine is started regularly and of course, it's driven for the MOT.
The other car is an 1800 estate from the early 1970's. (estate version of the Saints car but in white) It's solid but has had a bit of a blow over paint job. The 1800 has done less than 30,000 miles and also has it's engine run regularly. The guy told me that it could do with the brake fluid replacing.
Hope this clears up any confusion I may have caused.
I loved them BOTH for different reasons.
