Mpg, Turbo insurance, and where to buy a beautiful 480?!

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Hello 480 fanatics!

How many mpg do you get on yours?

Does the insurance go up a lot up for the Turbo?

I've been looking for a nice 480 in or around London. No joy so far. All the good ens seem to be in Yorkshire or Wales! :cryhard:

Any tips on how to track one down - ebay, autotrader and this site of course are all on my list at the moment.

Any dealers that I should try?

Great site, thanks for your help! :hopping:

Hi David!

Welcome here matey!

Theyre great on fuel if you dont rag em too hard!My Turbos been pampered and can return 40 mpg.The 2.0 ones can too.

Insurance is higher for the Turbo. This will alldepend on age/insurance record etc.

OK,one thing mate.DO broaden your travel scope just this once and you will get a far better choice.Youll only have to do this long journey once or twice (if you go back to pick up the car another time!).

There is one on www.uk.freeads.net It is in Paignton,Devon with 81k on and is rare silver/grey,manual and good history.

Apart from that theres the 51k Paris Blue one on ebay at the moment. This sort of condition car wont be repeated again for a long long time I'd say.

Good Luck
Steve. :hopping:

Ok good advice. I will broaden my search. Saw a couple in Dorset which isn't too much of a strech.

The paris blue one on ebay: it did look great, would have happily travel for that one. Phoned the guy this morning and he'd sold it through his local paper. Asked him how much for....he told me around £1000.

1. 42.8 Miles per gallon @ 60 mph on the M5
2. Tesco won't insure a turbo, its a policy of thiers
3. To get a Bargain you will have to travel
4. You could ask John at Volcare in Plymouth to look out for one for you, he has many contacts.
