i've gone turbo!

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

i've gone turbo!

Post by clubman_dan » Thu Aug 24, 2006 4:11 pm

i have finally taken the plunge and gone turbo :hopping:
i have bought the black one that was on ebay, it used to belong to someone on here called john i think.
i drove it back from milton keynes, nice and steady, it feels good though, love the feeling when the turbo spools up!!
unfortunatley i think the window regulator has broken  i was winding the window back up on the motorway when i heard a loud snap and now the window won't roll up!!! doh!
the mbc is closed so its running standard boost, not sure if i will twiddle with it, i think i am going to try and get a richmod for it.
i will post some pics whn i have cleaned it!!
DAN :)

Congratulations

A dead window regulator usually comes as standard anyway

Welcome to the world of boost mate! ;) There's no looking back now :)

Who did that spray job on the front? It's best to spray the whole panel and lacquer it, especially on metallics.

I think I might have a o/s spare window motor if you need one.

Hope it brings you many miles of fun :hopping:

i think it belonged to someone called john, it did have a big volvo sunstrip on it but that wass removed as soon as i got home! not my style!
the wing is on the to do list, as is the last 6inches or so of the roof which needs re lacquring, i am tempted to try and redo the whole roof my self because it looks a bit dull but may be a good polish will sort that.

indeed, it was the one slyoldfox was selling.
i have now removed all the stickers from the car, i prefer the clean look.
today after stressing about the water loss issue (see post in engine section)
i polished it and cleaned the interior.
i used leather dye to repair the wear on the drivers seat, and then cleaned all the leather with leather cleaner.
my girlfriend then thouroughly hoovered the car for me and i worked on romoving the pieces of manky old chewing gum from the ash tray, then we hoovered all the tobbacco from various crevices in the car and febreezed it to remove the smell of old ciggarettes from it!
its really cleaning up nicely, and should, with a bit of work turn out great!

Yeah, good choice Dan. Turbo is loads of fun, even in standard form imo. Rich Mod is uber-cool though, just make sure the car's as close to 100% as poss!

Nice one :D
