Paris model??

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Paris model??

Post by Dommett » Mon Aug 09, 2004 7:48 pm

I contacted Volvo customer relations about my car, apparantly sold in Swindon in '91, and not serviced at Volvo since '95 :(

But... they had no recollection of any 'Paris' model, only ES and Turbo.
My dealer had heard of it, but said they weren't that special, or limited.

So, does anybody know about this model, and how many were sold etc?
* 1.7 ES
* Paris Blue (318-2)
* Green stripe
* Green / Grey two-tone 'ribbed' leather interior
* Green / Grey leather dash/door cards
* Lots of other options, but may have been added later.

They did say try contacting the owners club, but you'd think they would know!!
Anyway - how the hell do you get registered on the site - I tried weeks ago, but heard nothing???

I heard they are quite rare, especially in the uk. There was one on ebay a couple of weeks ago. Daniel, our clubs daddy seemed to know about them.

I bought the one from eBay last week (the same one - I saw the thread about it).

So, any others??

I think I looked through the member list, which turned up 3 people with them.

Talk to Chris1roll, his mate ED has a Paris Blue 480 ES.
I thought they only existed in turbo form so was quite shocked when he rolled up in it a while back.

Was it actually a "Paris" edition?
i.e. with the two tone leather inside etc?

Does he still have it? he may have been one of the previous owners?!

btw: I contacted Volvo again, and they asked around, and somebody did remember it, and they found a brochure containing it, which hopefully should be coming through my letterbox sometime soon :D

unfortunately, they had no way of knowing how many were sold.

Hi Tom!

Hey mate,I spoke to Inchcape,our Volvo Dealership in Norwich a couple of months back about getting hold of the Momo wheel yours has.They went on to explain how rare the "Paris" model was in this country and explained that it was basically an ES only variant with the extras you have.
To confirm what I have told you,you may wish to contact Kevin in their Parts Dept. 01603 417270

Hang on to it mate,and yes if your plate ends in MR,thats the suffix for Swindon itself.The Volvo dealership there should be able to give you all the info if you supply them with the plate number okay chap?!

Cheers,
Steve. :hopping: :D

Yes they are very rare. I have only ever seen including your 3 in the uk and 1 in france.

They bought it out from what i can gather to celebrate the lauch of the Paris Blue colour.

If i was you I would keep hold of it.

Cool - I'll do that - I hope it makes it worth more ;)

I got a letter from Volvo yesterday with a colour photocopy of a small brochure about it (didn't say an awful lot, it was all about the upholstory and colour)

and apparantly was £15,795 in 1991 - which sounds quite a bit?!

I hope if somebody finds this thread in time to come, they'll get in contact if they have another, or if they know how many were built.

the paris models are very rare. and the leather interior is the ONLY !!!! that is completly made of leather and not partly of synthetic leather like the other leather interiors
'92 480 Turbo, Hausser Body Kit, FSE Valve, 15" RH alloys, clear indicators, Bridgestone Tyres 215/45/15, red Sidemarkers in the rear, Boost Presure@0.8 bar, Momo Steering Wheel, Foliatec Shifting Knob, .....

i think a few people would be keen on seeing that brochure,any cahnce you could scan it and sent it to dragon to host on his site with all the other brochures?

£16k aint too bad for a 480, my 91 model cost (not me!) nearly 18 grand! the leather interior cost 800 extra and the aircon and stuff bumped the price up as well, a set of mudflaps was nearly 120 extra, ouch!!

originally bought by a guy that was the PA to the archbishop of canterbury,i was a bit skeptical when i heard this but then when i saw the delivery address it was some palace in london that it was registered to!!
cou;dnt believe it, a fookin PALACE!!

I'll try - I don't have a scanner, but I can take digital photo's and upload them.
You'll probably be disappointed - it really is two sheets of A4 with a few photos and features

About the price - I assumed that was the price - was hand-written on it?
But, may have not included the leccy sunroof and other stuff? and mine don't have a/c!
