Anybody need a laugh?

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

i know there aren't too many here in Ireland but wtf???

when i get through NCT retest (fingers crossed) i might stick her on carzone for a laugh. If someone was prepared to give me half that i'd take their hand off! especially after being told we're going on a 3-day-week nxt month :(

That is rather ridiculous.

I was trying to give it a chance and, well, the body work is nice, but its not worth that much i'm afraid.

GBP = £4,539

It's an S, so bottom of the range, no turbo, no special edition, standard interior apart from the momo which is nice.

Good mileage but sorry. No way. I wish they were worth that much. If it sells i'd be amazed.

Try £600.

I've just sold my Celeb for 550 euro...I thought that was a good price!
Unfortunately I can no longer justify owning a 2litre engined car (in Ireland this is 614 euro a year to tax!) with an excessive thirst while still on a student budget.
It breaks my heart to sell it because I really wanted to keep this one...even just for the leather seats!

Anyhow, it's one more 480-lover in Ireland and that's something in a country where most people are pre-occupied with having '09' on their number plate.

So thank you everybody who has helped me out over the last year, especially Jim for all the parts and info! Pat480 and Moslo also. No doubt I will be back here again soon enough, I'll be looking for a nice Turbo then I think!

Thanks again lads...good luck!

I know prices round Germany,Holland and Belgium exceeds the prices for parts/cars asked in Great Britain, but thats really overdone.
Here in Holland, at a Volvo dealer there is now a really mint GT with 66000 km's on it that has a selling price of around 5500 Euro.

greetz
Flamered GT-Turbo 09-1995, Yellow Koni's, Intrax springs,Palm Beach,rear speakers,middle arm rest,Roboumod,Vega's, CT 906 radio/cd with 850 R amplifier, Pioneer speakers allround.
Hausser front and rear bumper, Black Diamond sport clutch, lightened flywheel, flowed head.Audi TT recirc.Stainless Cat replacement, K&N airfilter,Magnecor KV85,NGK colder plugs.
Soon ; Audi/VW calippers, 280mm Renault Sport brake discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads.

sorry to hear you have got rid of your 480 (again!). I know what you mean about the tax here its a killer! mine is up again and doubt i can shell out for a full year.

so what are you driving now... or should i not ask?!

well hope to see you back in a 480 sometime in the future! Just got through retest today so i'm good for another 2 years - unless i can find someone to give me a few grand for her!!!

all the best

moslo

The original white car that started this discussion has disappeared off carzone.
I wonder did someone actually buy it....a 5000 euro 480 with hubcaps and cloth seats
Mine is in pretty good condition but if i sold it for more than a thousand euro id feel like i ripped someone off

Its market dependent, you would probably make your money back if you sold it...but if that particular car was sold for 5k, the new owner would most likely get a fraction of that if they tried to sell it on again
