Halfrauds Prices

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

Halfrauds Prices

Post by Jimmy » Tue Sep 30, 2008 9:57 am

I couldn't believe the price of spark plugs in Halfrauds on Sunday. £24.99 for a pack of 4! I thought it seemed expensive so waited and popped into GSF yesterday - exactly the same ones for £1.50 each +VAT.

I was aware they were a bit more expensive, but that really surprised me.

Totally agree, I was checking battery prices today whilst looking for parts on my bike... and £89.99 for their 'economy' battery for the 480... seriously?!?!

They wanted to charge me £260+ for a clutch for the Laguna (not even fitted). I only inquired as Renault wanted £128, which I thought was pricey. The interesting thing is that they've been going for a long while and that begs the question; who is keeping this place afloat!?! Most of the petrol heads I know have only been in there once, half came out gut-laughing and the half enraged.

I like to think of it as a 'store' for middle-lane-heroes, (love that phrase! use it everyday now! even got "Don't be a middle lane hero" written in grime on the back door for when I cut 'em up!). Also a good place to buy a TWAT-NAV, fitted 'and' demonstrated so Dave tells me.

I hate halfrauds ! Went in there on Saturday morning for some bits, nothing on the shelf, no parts people just kids working, ended up going to staines and talking to real people who had what i wanted at the autoparts shop.

The price saved? No idea!!!! Halfrauds don't even have the prices on most stuff let alone those parts books!

What spark plugs were they?!

Bosch super 4? I found more expensive spark plugs to perform worse on my car.

I recently bought some more NGK (v groove i think) from halfrauds and they were around 11 - 12 squid as i think they have been for a while..

Popped in halfords cos i'd lost my iso adaptor that came with my sony cd player, £29.99 they were charging! Stupidly i bought it cos i was so desperate for some music on the way to work. Soon dawned upon me that for 20 quid more i could have a whole new cd player so used the adaptor for a few days, ordered a new cd player (not from Halfords) then took the adaptor back for a refund.

Can't stand the attitude of some staff in there either!

They were indeed Bosch Super 4's. Then again, so are the ones I got from GSF.

Halfords makes it money on being open 7 days, and late hours, so people like me who work 7 - 7 and need a few odds and sods. Im lucky that the trade card helps bring prices down a bit.....

Oh and I hate Super 4's (although you can pick them up for 99p each from gsf if you haggle) , rubbish plugs! NGK's all the way.
