info centre not working

Here you can talk about the joy owning a Volvo 480 brings. Non-technical discussions take place here, like what is the difference between an ES and a S version.

info centre not working

Post by RichardZ » Sun Jan 26, 2003 5:06 pm

Hi,

I know this question has been asked several times before, but I can't find the answer. Perhaps someone can help me, please!

Last week my car has been broken into. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /devil.gif ALT=":evil"> Apart from a stolen radio, a smashed drivers side window, a badly damaged drivers side door and a parly ruined dashboard, my info centre stopped working. I remember this had something to do with the wires being cut, but I can't find which wires to reconnect. It's a terrible mess!

I think the white-white/black and the yellow-yellow/black wires are connected to the speakers. The other wires puzzle me a bit. There's brown(earth), red (aerial relay?), blue (life, switched) and red/gray (lfie, not switched). No other wires.

Can anyone help me?

Richard
480 turbo automatic 1991

According to some older posts two grey/red wires should be connected. Well, they are! And there's 12v on it, too.

But still not a working infocentre. The backlight is OK, but there's no info.

Where should I look? I'm feeling very unconfortable without knowing how much petrol I have left!

The damage done by this junky is well over 500 euro! Perhaps he got 20 euro for my radio to put into his arm. Grrrrrr

RichardZ
480 turbo automatic 1991

Sounds like wiring being ripped out pulling on other indirect wiring and causing a break at connection. Think you will need to pull the dash! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/sick.gif ALT=":x">
