Hello!!!
The title says it all.
After just reading Stu's post on Fiat Coupe owner taking the piss out of him owning the 480,I had to think a bit!
I would actually own one instead of a 480.
What car would you part with your 480 for,on a £2500 budget???

Sorry I will go hugely over budget, but it will become a:
- Volvo C70 coupe, their next coupé
- or Volvo C30, the successor not out yet, but that gives some time for saving
Too bad I'm still a student, so for now this is way out of my league, but a good reason to keep it with my good 'old' 480! (for now)

I've always quite liked the Celica GT4, not sure if you could get a really good one for £2500 but can't be much more...
Other than that there're a few real classics I've always fancied - Triumph GT6, Saab 96 V4, Triumph Vitesse convertible, Volvo PV544 Sport (don't think they made any RHD), the list could go on. I think most of these you could pick up in usable condition for about the £2500 mark, but as everyday runners they're all really too old and should be treated to a nice retirement going to car meets and sunny weekend runs.
If we can go over budget an Audi TT might be OK and definitely the 260bhp C30 when it arrives, but that's probably over budget by an order of magnitude!

I'd still happily buy another 480 again (already had two), although this time it'd definatly be a turbo and then a RichMod. - not that I've ever been in a RichMod'ed Turbo, but going from what people have said...

You could get a rancid one for £2500 (but a straight one will cost about £4000+) But still.........

Not that much i'd swap the 480 for, as there's not much that is as pleasing to my eye, has the scarcity value, and (in modded Turbo form) has the performance and practicality for under 2.5k.
Maybe an Audi S2.
Or, breaking the budget- the old BMW M Coupe! 480 principles moved up a few levels of madness!!

I've always really like the look of the VW corrado
and i guess i must embrace the farmer boy in me by adding a Land Rover - Defender to the list ...
maybe if i could afford to maintain it ... a porsche 944 would be nice?
But as it is at the moment ... i wouldn't part with my 480!

Maybe a Jenson Healey but I'd probably bottle it on reliablity grounds.
I'd be looking at Porsche 944's, Celica's, MR2's or Fiat Coupe's (as much as I hate Fiats, I do like this one).
If we were talking 4K I'd be after a Lotus Elan.

Blimey!What a responseus!Ha!
@ Random Monkey A friend Dave has the 52 plate Cupra R with the Stage 1 ECU upgrade. It is at 260 BHP with this mod.
All I can say is it is the most effortlessly rapid car I have ever been in!It drives beautifully. It handles as if it will take anything you can throw at her!
The Celica is one that so many of us seem to like, lots of 480 owners seem to like these.Just an observation!
Did anyone out there like the Isuzu Piazza Turbo?LOL!I loved em,very similar in style to the 480.Dodgy back end design too!!!
