Hi Suddy!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't mate because of heat. The heat which travels directly under the seats from the front for the rear passengers will add to the heat build up it already produces. From my experience only here,I'd always boot mount them,so as air gets around the unit.
Rich Pruen is probably the expert on this one.I call him the oracle,so page him at your leisure!!

I know what you mean, I had 1.5 cm of water standing in the footwell of the passenger behind the driver... Water was pouring out of my Sony changer. Well, I immediately disconnected the changer, let the water drip out / dry inside and it has never given any problems after reconnecting it.pol wrote:Well I had mine there... It got wet, died and ran my battery out from shorting out.

The water came in through the rearlight-seals. Resealing them solved the problem

you can generally get adapters for different cd changers to work with different HUs, but sometimes they cost more than a changer in the first place!!!
halfrauds wanted 56 quid for one for a sony head unit to pioneer changer.....got a 10 cd changer that matched the sont for 35.....go figure!

Re: I wouldnt
Dunno i'd ask Lee, he did use to install I.C.E for a living and have his own install contract to certain I.C.E shops.catgroom wrote:Hi Suddy!!!!!!!!

Changers dont generate nowhere as much heat as an amp so it can be placed under the seat if there's enough clearance.

If your not bothered about the extra 4 discs, the Sony 6 disc changers are nice and small, go under the passenger seat no problems.
I wouldn't install it here personally, too worried about anything being on view since I got my last ICE knicked, a year later I still can't bring myself to install one like it again for fear of it getting taken.
Boot is ok for this, Sony ones are VERY versitile for mounting options, I'd put it in the corner behind one of the rear seats, hides it enough provided you've got your boot cover on. All I ever did was to get a piece of reasonably thick MDF, stick this under the floor cover and screw through it into the MDF to hold it into place. In fact for this reason they left my CD changer behind, they must have thought it would be difficult to remove or something? It never skipped either, nice setup the MD head and CD changer, same as I've had for a while. If you havn't, do yourself a favour and intall a Sony wired remoe, piss easy to do and so much nicer for controling the stereo. I'll get you a pic or two of this if your interested.

My 10 disc changer is grip filled to a piece of MDF...dont ask...i would recommend you screw yours should you EVER wish to remove it again.... which is then screwed to the side of my sub box.
The sub is then bolted to the boot floor through its base using 2 10mm bolts.
That way it won't end up where my head should be in an accident, and it should prove harder to nick.... if i drill the heads of the screw holding the cone in it would be even harder, but i might like to remove it myself sometime!

Yes quick tip here...
Security is great, but I went a little over the top. I fitted everything with hardened security screws, or hardened screws and drilled out the heads. I also fitted the parcel shelf with shear head bolts.
That was fine, and no one could take anything without a fight. The trouble was trying to remove it. It took me 6 hrs with a crowbar, drill and lump hammer to remove everything. In the end it was easier to break the wooden parts of the box in the parcel shelf, then to remove the fixings.
So don't go tooo mad with the security, as you will regret it.
