Safe Jacking points / axle stands

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Safe Jacking points / axle stands

Post by sam029 » Sat May 02, 2015 12:10 am

This may have been asked before, but could someone post photos of safe jacking areas on volvo 480? For trolley jack / Axle stands, i know not to use flat belly pan areas and been using safe structural places near the sills for the moment...

thanks !

if using rear axle put stands DIRECTLY below the spring mounts, as close as possible to wheels. If you put in-board then might damage cross tube as it is NOT designed to carry a load !

thanks for the tips, i did read the first comment and had it a bit away from the spring mounts on rear axle, but i also had the middle jacked up as well, wasn't the subframe, nor the floor pan, just a reinforced part of chassis ( crossmember ? ) I had to put it there to get clearance changing mid section of exhaust, and piping leading to the rear silencer.
