Open Door Warning light

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Open Door Warning light

Post by travelman » Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:56 pm

My car keeps telling me that I have a door not closed properly-but it lies! Are there sensors anywhere that I can check.Any other suggestions welcomed.

microswitches on both doors and rear hatch .

I would check rear hatch first.

Hi, didn't really want to start digging out old threads but I have the same problem.
Can someone please tell me were the microswitches are locate as I couldn't find them. I'm suspecting the rear hatch as I was in there sealing leaks and ever sine its been on.

Hi- try as Jim suggests and try rear door first. It is the easiest microswitch to get to at the rear of the lock. Pull the connectors off it and see if light goes out. I hope you are lucky because the ones in the side doors are a pain to do and it is not possible to know which side it is. You need to strip all the panels off the interior of the door. Mine was drivers door, which I tried after the rear door which seemed logical as it is the most used door. The microswitches are incorporated in the central locking system on each door and you need to change the whole mechanism.
I bought a second hand one complete for each door from someone breaking a 480 at a reasonable price, which fixed my drivers door and the warning light and has left me with a spare passenger side one just in case that goes.
Hope you are lucky and it is rear one if that is where you were throwing all the water.

Ok so I've unclipped the wires from the boot lock and the light went out. I guess that means I need a new one, or can I strip it to replace the microswitch as I really don't want to have to use a different key for the boot.

Slow down you are getting confused ...

the microswitch is separate from the lock barrel all you do is replace the rear lock assembly (includes the microswitch)

Remove the retaining circlip and thenputting key in barrel pull the barrel out.

replace switch assembly

slot in your lock barrel and put the retaining circlip back in position and there you are same key and everything is now working again

ok thanks for that, to remove the lock assembly I guess you just unbolt it from inside the rear hatch?
