carpet wear, any bright ideas?

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

carpet wear, any bright ideas?

Post by timrosser » Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:42 pm

HI, Ive just about worn two holes in the plastics 'leather' pad under the drives pedals, I hate car mats so any ideas about perhaps cutting out the 'pad' and replacing with something close in style, has anyone tried this?

Why not just replace the entire carpet ?
Freshens a car up very well.

Hi Chaps, well my carpet is generally in very good condition, it seems kind of cruel to dispatch it for a the odd bit of heel wear, are there any interesting jobs to be done under the carpet while its up Jim? Say if I was going to re-wire the back speakers perhaps...

Tom, if you want to send me a pic then I'll def have a look! Thanks again

Oh sorry I miss read your original post, I'm getting rid of some car mats, I don't think there is any speaker wiring under there it all runs under the plastic trim on the sills. You could try some contact adhesive (or spray-mount) and some fresh leather, if you sewed some lines in it you could make it look similar to the original I reckon...

Hi Strongtom, yes that was the sort of thing I was thinking, all thats happened is that the tough plastic has started to separate from the weaker carpet in one corner, I was thinking about something along the lines of some glue and needlework, thanks for the reply

Yeah just give it a go, and stick some pics up if it goes well, I suppose if you were really ambitious you could pull it up cut the bit out and sew in a new bit, I'd probably just try sticking it back down, I'd say that spray on contact adhesive would suit uhu make a good one.

If you are just looking for the heel pad try Woolies they specialise in trim and upholstery and sell pretty well everything you could want. Tel 01778 347347 www.woolies-trim.co.uk

They sell heel pads - part number 278, various colours, size 28x18cm (11"x7") cost £3.06.
