Can / How do you remove a front wing?

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Can / How do you remove a front wing?

Post by jamesalx » Sat Nov 17, 2007 5:18 pm

So driving round roundabout some git just pulls out in front of me and then stops. Brakes on skidded at about 5mph and bang. Bloke then looks at me and then guns it off round the roundabout with a big dent in the side of his car, cant see him for dust.

So looks like I have to replace the front wing. I just had a brief look and dose it just bolt on?

Also, looking at working on the rear arches, can you get repair panels to weld in place of the rotten one?

front wing is bolt on. However there are a few tricky bolts. There is one that is best to get at from the wheel arch so best to remove the inner. This is the one by the door. The other is down on the sill. This one tends to rust and then spin on itself.

As for the rears. Front wings on the opposite side to what you are working on helps. But also Ford escort archs but can't remember what mark. It could be mark 3/4

you will also have to remove one ninge of the hood, it is bolted from the inside the wing. allining the hood might take you some time, after.

yes, the diagonal side front wing will fit rear arch.
