Rear shelf

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Rear shelf

Post by Milosz_480 » Mon May 30, 2005 10:03 pm

I'd like to build rear shelf for my ES. Has anyone got some schemats? I'd be nice to see others' ideas :)

Nope, not much point though, theres a ten inch sub, a 360 watt amp and a 10 disc changer in there.

In order for the shelf to open, the hatch can only be as wide as the narrowest portion of the boot apeture, ( which is at the top) which makes it pathetically small, as to be pointless. I looked into all that when I built that shelf.

If you tip the rear seats forward, you can slid it forwards to get stuff in and out of the boot if need be.

hmmmhmm, Well, looking at that one, I guess they have screwed wooden ledges into the plastics for it to sit on, since it doesn't fit properly at the edges.
If you look at mine, it is fitted right to the edge, around the bulge the seat belt comes out of, which means it can sit on the plastice without making holes in them... it also provides a moderate prevention of it sliding forward and ending up where my head should be in an accident.
You could still cut the hatch in it doing it that way. Still not a very big hole though is it?

Now I'm thinking about using clips that are in boot for load cover. It would be painless for plastics. how many of them are each side? 2 per side and 2 in back?

yep, Would rattle like hell though.
The other methods mean you can have carpet between the shelf and where it rests on the plastics.

Nice shelf but minus of that is when you want to get to boot you have to take shelf out of the car. I decided to make shelf from plastic and metal. I'll put some carpet or windows' seal between my shelf and plastcs. Or I have idea of covering all plastics in boot with carpet. It can be nice :)

Very nice, what speakers are those? as you have triple way woofer, mid and tweeter of one passive crossover that must have come as a kit.

I have about what king richy has, but is only half as big so i can still use my trunck space (the bit that is left) :P

I'll get some pics off it when i get at home, i think it looks nice the sound is amazing from the small amp/speakers. Some people think there's a sub in there but there isnt one.
