Sometime ago I saw an advert on Ebay from a german guy who made special gaskets for the rearclusters, that would be ideal. But haven't seen it anymore lately. Other best option is to use window sealant or body gauk, non hardening stuff. Better not use glue or hardening stuff, this will make it impossable to remove the clusters without breaking them. Bathroom sillicone is a no no, this will promotes rust.

I've also used window sealant for my rear clusters. After three years still no leaks. I've used it from Volvo as I got it for free from the dealer, to seal the rear clusters, when I bought the car there (bought the car without warranty, and with ductaped rear clusters...).
It is this stuff. Because I got it for free I have no idea how much it will cost.

Well I got the Volvo stuff, and it was utter sh1t, then as above i too got those great ebay laser cut things from Germany and stuck them on using 3M acrylic tape used by body shops, not a single leak since and my celeb has been out in the elements.....
TO Iroll480, do you have that guys ebay username, I had contacted him since, but lost his email, he has said he is willing to make seals on request.

Seems that the Volvo stuff isn't popular. Is the stuff you bought in short strips the same as the stuff on a role I have? I didn't had any problems with it. Just routing it around where the clusters would be fitted (with the ends of the trail at the bottom to prevent leaking) and pressing the clusters on to it.

If people are interested in using the Volvo butyl stuff I mentioned above despite the negative comments, it costs only 14,50Euro from Volvo. Then you have more than enough to seal both rear clusters. If you route only one line around the cluster, which is enough to make it leak free, it's even possible to get the cluster out again. I did this in 5 minutes and the cluster came out in 1 piece
Re: refitting rear clusters
I'm also having the same dilemma re using volvo's own butyl tape to seal my rear clusters. jim mentioned the other day that it's a bit rubbish, but his description of it varies from what the successful user has shared in a photograph. Jim, is what you were unable to work with that stuff on a roll in a blue cardboard box near the top of this thread?
Thanks

Re: refitting rear clusters
No Jon went into volvo dealers and asked for the roll of sealant was told it was only sold in 30 cm strips.
So bought 4 and it was rubbish maybe it was my application of it was too heavy handed but I couldnt get the clusters to sit in right so eventually after a couple of trys I gave up and resorted to the old faithful , kept the volvo stuff though will look it out and if theres enough that can be used you can have it for nothing .
Just going out so will pm you and post up in about 90 minutes time.
