The 480 is due for a couple of new boots soon, what do you peeps recommend and where do you get them?
I can cope with mail order as the local garage will fit and balance for £5 :D

TIA

I'm using Hankook Ventus tyres. Rated by a lot of the mags/Which as, as good if not better, than some of your Pirellis/Goodyears. Came in at £46 each aswell. I can certainly attest to the fact they are grippy!

Well, have two michelins, were on the front but are very soft and were noticably worn after just 1000 miles, so they are now on the back. Now on the fron i have BF Goodrich's which are good and grippy but wear a little less excessively. (i still only get 8000 miles out of a set though)

Hiya
I've got Continental PremiumContact on the front, had them on for about 2 months, £70-odd each fitted and balanced from eTyres.

There were Michelins on when I bought the car (Energy I think), didn't like them but they were quite worn... The Contis feel great in the wet, and seem pretty quiet - they look nice too! Can't really comment on the wear. I'm no expert, but feel I can recommend these. Though not particularly cheap, I'm one that doesn't believe in skimping on tyres as I do quite a bit of mileage and they're the only things keeping you on the road in the end!!

eTyres were the cheapest when I was looking (and they come to you), although blackcircles and myTyres already mentioned are cheap. It's also worth checking the high street (Kwik Fit / National) as they sometimes have offers, but do pile on non-optional extras after (balancing, disposal, valve, etc). Don't bother with AA, they were stupidly expensive even with a "member's discount"...

Also some tyre manufacturers have rebates on their websites when you buy a set (I've seen them on Toyo and Michelin sites recently) so have a good look round...

Cheers!

Hiya!

Michelin Pilot Primacies,Exaltos are better but pricier.Spot-on in the wet!!!

Hankook are well worth a go,being still cheap for some reason.

Toyo or Fulda rate highly as had these on my Integrale and they lasted and stuck like plop to a rug!!!!!!

Continental's,like Martin's last ages!!!!!

MatBat is well cluey on tyres,eh Battus?!!!!!! ;) :D

Tyres....

I have Avon ZV3 on all four wheels at the moment. Can't complain about the grip, but the buggers wear very quick on the front. They are not quite as good as the older type ZV1 it seems, but do last a bit longer.

I would reccomend Goodyear Eagle F1's, though I have not tried them personally, I have the Goodyear Eagle ventura's which are very very grippy (also in wet). the F1's are the upgrade from these. Not the cheapest tyre, but they wear well, and work out better value then buying cheap tyres.

I've got Yokohama S306's on my 2-litre. They seem quite nice and grippy. They've got a very deep tread on them, but I think that's to make up for the fact they're quite soft.

On my 1.7, I've got Pirelli P6000's. These I was also very impressed with, but it's worth ringing around for them, as prices seem to vary a lot for P6000's in my experience.

I've got Toyo Proxes on my Turbo, only had them for two weeks but i am well impressed- as soon as the guy had fitted them i took myself out for a test run.
As if by magic, the heavens opened; torrential rain ensued.
Yeah, they grip like buggery. Perhaps a bit noisy, but a "good" sort of noisy.
Saved quite a bit of cash by getting the 50 profile instead of 55- looks better anyway! :D

Another vote for the Toyo Proxes, great it the dry & fantastic in the wet. The wear rate seems good too...

I also got 50's instead of 55's, which helps sharpen the handling up a tad (although the biggest benefit is the cost, £200 for all 4 fitted/balanced from etyres :D )

Yokohama A539's in a 195/50r15 size, lovely and sticky, great for trackdays, and stunning grip in the wet. Yes they do wear quicker than some tyres but i love the extra grip.
