Took the wheel off to do rear discs and pads and realised that the shock absorber was upside down (will take a pic later)? Is it supposed to be like this? Shock absorber looks like new and is sachs make, but even the letters are upside down. HELPP!!

does this mean that the cover that stops crud hanging around the seal is actualy helping it stick around acting as a trap ?
if so id change it round the right way ;)

Are you sure?! Must have been some special garage that fitted them!

Maybe your head was upside down to enable you to look under the arch (this makes things appear upside down!)

Exactly, so it was.
Got the car a few days ago and i didn't like the feel of the rear end... thought it could be rear drop links but apparently they are OK.
So hopefully this will take care of that weird feeling i had when cornering... what i don't undersand is how can anyone be so stupid to fit shock absorbers the wrong way up... Maybe the guy that fitted them was working either hanging from the roof by his feet or rolled the car over to replace shocks.
