Complete new clutch... How much!!??

Post by huwj » Tue Jan 10, 2006 2:37 pm

Been quoted £230 (+VAT) for a complete clutch fitted by a good independent Volvo specialist.

Is this a fair price or should I be ringing round? Not sure if it's worth the saving of going to one of the big clutch centres.

Cheers

that's not a bad price, clutch is bout £100 n i'd personally charge bout £120 to do it.

it is a volvo specialist so i'd take my chance there than giving to an apprentice at the local 'general' garage.

64 quid from GSF.....
https://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/results.asp
unless its the turbo that is, then a bit more expensive for later ones

i would say about 100 to fit too......shouldnt be more than 3-4 hours jobs
it aint that hard to do it yourself....i paid someone to do my first one, and then did the next one myself!

Dont think £230 + vat is that bad, but still shop around might be cheaper to buy a clutch seperate then get a garage to fit it like Robkendall said GSF etc is a good place to start.....

......Reminds me my clutch is on its way out, it on max adjustment and is slipping again. Had an AA guy look at it when i broke down said it would not last must longer......... 3000 mile later still hanging on, (saying that will give it the kiss of death now) Better start saving
